Who are the BBFC and what do they do?
The BBFC is an organisation that decides on the age restrictions and censorship
of Films on DVDS, Video s and same games.
What are the 6 UK classification certificates?
The six UK classifications are U, which is a certificate that advises that anyone
can watch this because there is no content which some who is 4+ that will
affect someone, U stands for universal, and an example of this would be the
smurfs 2. The second one is PG that stands for parental guidance; this means
that for children under 12 it is advised that parents may want to check before
because there may be some content that some children might not like, and an
example of this would be kangaroo jack. The next one is 12/12a which is for
people above 12 because there is some content which may not be suitable or
appropriate for children younger than 12, and an example of this would be
Pacific Rim. The next Is 15, this means that it on suitable for people 15, this is
because there will be scene of a sexual nature or there may be some violence
or there may be some swearing, an example of this would be The Heat. The 5

is 18, this means that only people 18 or above are recommended to watch is
because there can be scenes of a sexual nature, extreme violence or extreme
language, there may be some other things like drug use and extreme visuals,
and an example of this would be Evil Dead. The 6

one is 18r; this means it is
for people over 18 because it has extreme scenes of a sexual nature.
Why does the BBFC classify films?
The BBFC classify films because it would not be suitable for children to watch
certain films and parent will want advice on what I suitable.

What is censorship?
Censorship is when an official goes through a music video, film or TV
programme I love men to check that there is no content that would not be
suitable to go out, like swearing, sexual content, drug use or violence.
Give an example of censorship. (Include film title, complaint/reason for censoring and
outcome)
For example if the programme was going to be on in the afternoon and there
was some swearing they would have to censor. For example in only fools and
horses there is some penis occasional swearing, if it was being shown in the
afternoon than the TV channel would have to censor it.
How do you make a complaint about a film?
To make a complaint about a film you have seen where you think ]there is
something inappropriate content and think it shouldnt be in there or doesnt
match correctly to the certificate then you can inform the BBFC.
