INSPECTORS SEEKING TO IDENTIFY POST OFFICE ROBBERS

Reward of up to $50,000 for information on July 1st & September 4th Robberies

U.S. Postal Inspectors are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for two Post Office robberies that occurred this
year in New Jersey.

The first robbery occurred during the afternoon of July 1, 2009 at the Monitor Branch Post Office
in West New York. The lone suspect accosted the postal clerk on the premises and displayed a
handgun. The suspect is described as a black male, late 20s to early 30s, medium complexion,
approximately 5’10” to 6’, athletic build, with short hair. He was last seen wearing square framed
dark sunglasses and a dark color t-shirt and jeans. Local residents observed the suspect
loitering in the area earlier that day.

Postal Inspectors are also seeking to identify a person of interest who was captured on
surveillance video inside the Post Office lobby on June 23, around 4:30 p.m. While this person
does not match the description of the suspect, he is being sought for questioning by Postal
Inspectors due to the fact it was a mere eight days before the robbery. Again, this individual is
not considered a suspect.

The investigation has revealed several credible leads, including information that the suspect
may be from the Bergen-Lafayette District of Jersey City.

The second robbery occurred during the afternoon of September 4, 2009 at the Maplecrest Post
Office in Maplewood, NJ. A lone gunman displaying a black and silver handgun accosted a
Postal employee as he exited the Post Office and struck him with the handgun. An undisclosed
amount of cash was forcibly stolen. This suspect is described as a black male with a thin
mustache or goatee, late 20s to early 30s, dark complexion, approximately 5’8” to 6’, slim build,
short black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with grey lettering,
light grey athletic shorts and white or grey sneakers.

At this time Postal Inspectors are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect based on
a sketch of the suspect that is now being released.

A reward of up to $50,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the
responsible person(s). Individuals with information about either robbery can contact Postal
Inspectors 24 hours a day with information and may remain anonymous by calling (973) 693-
5450 or (877) 876-2455 [877-US-MAIL-5].
