Digital Citizenship
Is a way to prepare
students/technology
users for a society full of
technology.
Digital citizenship is the norms
of appropriate, responsible
technology use.
Is a concept which helps
teachers and parents to
understand what
students/children/technology
users should know to use
technology appropriately.
Digital Citizenship
Cyber Bullying
Cyber bullying is bullying
that takes place using
electronic technology.
Examples are mean text
messages or emails, rumors
sent by email or posted on
social networking sites.
Parents and kids can prevent
cyber bullying. Together,
they can explore safe ways
to use technology.

Ways to prevent Cyber Bullying
Talk about what
bullying is and how to
stand up to it safely.
Keep the lines of
communication open.
Encourage kids to do
what they love.
Model how to treat
others with kindness
and respect.
Florida Law against Cyber Bullying
The Jeffery Johnston Stand Up for All Students
Act was enacted in April 2008.
The law mandates each school district to
promptly develop a code of conduct against all
bullying and harassment.
The code of conduct must include procedures for
identifying incidents of bullying, determining if
the incident occurred within the school district,
parental notification and when appropriate
notification of law enforcement authorities, and
counseling services to victims of bullying.

Internet Safety and Digital
Citizenship
The internet is a great
tool for students to
use.

Teachers and parents
should be cautious of
the potential dangers.

Lets work together to
help keep our kids safe
and having fun!
