Derrinita Walker
Personal Profile
My interest and formal training in graphic design began in high school. Continuing on through college, I received
my degree and entered the work force as a designer in 2005. Over the years, I have gained a strong understanding
of effective design and the balance between creativity and function.

Versatility is a major strength of mine. My varied experiences in marketing, administration and public relations give
me a more complete picture as to the uses and capabilities of design—beyond the printed page.

Career History
Freelance Graphic Designer – 2009 to Present

Ajax Building Corporation – 2008 to 2009

Marketing Assistant
During by brief time with Ajax, I was able to provide graphics support for presentations and tradeshows. While
most of their collateral materials were outsourced, I supplied fresh design pieces for proposals and solicitations to
the Florida School Districts.

Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection – 2006 to 2008

Graphic Designer
Working with the DEP was an amazing learning experience. I was challenged to develop a variety of materials and
develop concept campaigns within very narrow perimeters and with almost nonexistent budgets. The high-volume
work environment afforded me plenty of chances for creativity and project leadership. Most notably, I spearheaded
the Florida State Park Brochure initiative and won an award for my work on a PR campaign for Maclay Gardens.

The Ravenscraft Group – 2005 to 2007

Marketing Assistant
My roles with TRG were extremely broad. I started as an administrative assistant with this small company and
quickly became the lead designer on many of the projects for 501 (c) 3 organizations in the area. I was also fortu-
nate enough to cut my teeth on grant writing and event planning, with very positive results.

Graphic Designer
My job here was my first professional design job out of high school. While with this company I designed banners,
business signage, lettered vehicles and learned a lot about vinyl design.
