True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils.

Strive to
have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island to find
one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing.

Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.
Woodrow T. Wilson

Friendship consists in forgetting what one gives and remembering what one
receives. Alexander Dumas

Let us teach the ignorant, and take care of the young child until he grows to
maturity. When we find a person fallen into the depths of misery or sin we
must be kind to him, take him by the hand, help him to regain his footing,
his strength; we must guide him with love and tenderness, treat him as a
friend not as an enemy.
(Abdul-Bah, Paris Talks, p. 147)

It is incumbent upon them to take counsel together and to have regard for the
interests of the servants of God, for His sake, even as they regard their own
interests, and to choose that which is meet and seemly. Thus hath the Lord
your God, the Gracious, the Pardoner, commanded you. Beware lest ye put
away that which is clearly revealed in His Tablet. Fear God, O ye that
perceive.
(Bahullh, Synopsis and Codification of the Kitb-i-Aqdas, p. 13)

Another commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another even as I
love you. Great mercy and blessings are promised to the people of your land,
but on one condition; that their hearts be filled with the fire of love, that they
live in perfect harmony and kindness like one soul in different bodies. Never
forget this.
(Abdul-Bah, Bah Scriptures, p. 502)

Love gives life to the lifeless. Love lights a flame in the heart that is cold.
Love brings hope to the hopeless and gladdens the hearts of the sorrowful.
(Abdul-Bah, Paris Talks, p. 179)

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some
point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other
one in the face.
The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the
sand Today my best friend slapped me in the face.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a
bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started
drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near
drowning, he wrote on a stone Today my best friend saved my life.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, After I
hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why? The
other friend replied When someone hurts us we should write it down in
sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does
something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever
erase it.
