On

To study the effects of training on motivation of employees with reference to
the teachers of University of Sindh Jamshoro

1.1 Introduction
Most of the educationists agree that all of different factors, which influence the quality of
education, the quality, competence and character of teachers, are the most significant. The
quality of education imparted depends to a large extent on the quality of teachers. (iqbal1996)
In reports of all the commissions and policies, it is stressed that the success of education system
would largely depend on the competence of teachers and No system of education is better than
its teacher

. (National commission on education) The quality of education is a central theme in


education systems. The quality of education is increasingly judged by focusing on pupil
performance, what pupils actually learn, and how well they learn it.
In considering what constitutes teacher quality Fwu and Wang (2002) state that teacher training
could develop content knowledge, pedagogical skills, the ability to reflect and to empathize,
managerial competency, commitment, moral conduct, the ability to adjust and improvise, the
capacity to collaborate with other teachers, the ability to advance the profession of teaching, and
to contribute to society at large. In addition, they suggest that the quality of a teacher should
ultimately be evaluated in terms of his/her impact on the quality of his/her students.
In most of the countries irrespective of developed and developing, teachers have to undergo
intensive training together with substantial practical experience before entering into the teaching
profession. The rationale for teacher training is the technical nature of the teaching profession.
Training in his field provides the knowledge, skill, to reshape the attitudes, remodel the habits
and in a way to reconstitute the personality of a teacher.
Teaching profession is considered the backbone of the educational system of a country. The
faculty of education at the university of Sindh pioneered the advanced level teacher training
programs for different departments and affiliated colleges in Sindh province with the
collaboration of higher education commission (HEC) as training is essential part of education
system and training of teachers is an important to enhance their professional capabilities with
fresh knowledge, it is also essential that knowledge and information acquired by teachers
through trainings may transform to other teachers as well students that process of learning and
teaching continued. Improving teachers motivations to do well in training is a must. Whatever
the reason for an employee training session, you need to keep your teachers motivated about
learning new things. Teacher training can be an essential part of University of Sindh. When
teachers are motivated to succeed in learning new things, the more students are competent,
educated and civilized nation.

1.2 Statement of the Problem:
As the university teachers supposed to be responsible to produce high quality graduates
fit for the job market and they can better perform their job if they are exposed to formal
development initiatives taken for enhancing their skills, knowledge and abilities. Teaching
development safeguards faculty obsolescence through enhancing their technical, human and
conceptual skills for survival of teachers as well as the university.
This study is going to be conducted to know the effectiveness of training on motivation
of sindh university teachers in learning and delivering the knowledge, skills, behaviors,
technology, creativity and inspirations to the students in various disciplines of the university.
1.3 Objectives of the Study:
Objectives of the study would be:
1. To know the current status and criteria of trainings offered to sindh university
teachers.
2. To know the pedagogical skills of teachers after training.
3. To know the teachers degree of commitment and competence in their profession.
4. To know the level of satisfaction towards offered training.
5. To know the students learning and approach towards their study and learning
who are under trained teachers.
6. To know the university motives for providing training to new recruits as well as
its existing teachers.
7. To know the number of trainings and the types of trainings offered to teachers.
8. To know the relevance of the trainings to the need of the teachers and their
profession.
1.4 Research Hypothesis:
On the basis of proposed research, following hypotheses can be drawn:
1. There is a significant relationship between training and the motivation of the
teachers.
2. There is no significant relationship between levels of teachers motivation and
their job performance.
3. There is a significant relationship between teachers training and student learning.
4. There is significant relationship between low motivation of teachers and poor
attendance of students in class rooms.
5. There is significant relationship between teaching methodology and student
learning.
6. There is significant relationship between teachers training and effective
relationships of teacher, student and management.
7. There is signification relationship between teachers training and teachers career
advancement.
1.5 Justification/ Scope of the Study:
The aim of the study is to assess the prospects of teachers training in university of Sindh
Jamshoro. Further, the proposed study will also analyze the direct and indirect impact and
contribution of teachers pedagogical skills and competencies in utilizing modern methodology
of delivering lectures. . The proposed study is to determine and analyze educational policy
trends, training programs, workshops, and seminars offered by university of Sindh with
collaboration of Higher Education Commission to increase the effectiveness and motivation of
teachers. The study is going to compare and explore the motivation and performance of the
teachers and students in the class rooms.
1.6 Research Methodology:
Research Methodology of proposed study is based on collection of data, tabulation of
data and interpreting data. The whole study devotes to sampling where various techniques of
collection data to be determined.
Data collection will consist of surveys, classroom observations and interviews with Sindh
University teachers, as well as journal logs from teachers. Initially, a survey instrument to
measure teacher attitudes and beliefs regarding professional roles and responsibilities will be
administered to a broad spectrum of participants. Subsequently, a purposeful sample will be
identified to participate in the second round of data collection. Multiple interviews are planned
with each participant in order to collect more in-depth data and provide opportunities for follow-
up.
