Employment

March 2000-February 20004 Direct Home Improvements

Sales Representative

As a sales representative with Direct Home Improvements my main job was to sell
door canopies, doors, roofline, windows and conservatories. We did this mainly from
door to door canvassing, along with occasional newspaper advertising which provided
leads. I was also involved in the ordering of doors and all of the organisation and
artwork of advertising along with any customer service ie: any complaints or
customer follow ups.
April 1998-November 1999 Courier Publications
Advertising Sales Representative
During this time my duties included selling advertising space in different publications,
sometimes working on 2 or 3 at a time. I was set a monthly target along with a copy
deadline and to get my bonus I had to achieve both. The majority of my sales were to
companies in the tourist industry, and I was responsible for making and proofing all
my own adverts. My responsibilities also included monitoring the teams’ attendance
and collating the team call sheets to update our weekly figures.

June 1997-April 1998 ACC Telecom

Telesales Advisor
My position with ACC Telecom gave me invaluable experience as I was in constant
communication with the commercial sector, providing information, quotes and selling
telecom services. Weekly targets were achieved through effective and ethical selling
methods.

July 1996-May1997 Search Consultancy

Resourcer/Trainee Consultant
My duties within the I.T. Division of Search Consultancy involved interviewing new
candidates, matching their C.V.’s to client job specifications and arranging interviews
between candidate and client. I was also responsible for maintaining candidates
C.V.’s on the system, as well as their attributes.

November 1994-July 1996 British Telecom

Professionsal Sales Grade Advisor
My employment with British Telecom involved communicating their range of
products and services to the customer base, and ensuring the customers were provided
with the most appropriate package to their established needs. This was achieved by
effective questioning to the customer, and matching their needs to the company’s
portfolio. A combination of ‘Epsilon’ and ‘CSS’ software systems were used to
identify customer requirements, and process subsequent orders. This position
required constant drive and enthusiasm to sell with integrity, remembering that targets
had to be achieved at all times.

May 1987-November1994
During this time my main responsibilities were reception duties, word processing,
property enquiries, general administration and assisting with on-site surveys for James
Barr & Son and then laterly for the University of Strathclyde, invoicing, computing,
word processing, telephone enquiries and dealing with student queries. I was also
responsible for the organisation of the main filing system.

Interests Cooking, family life, general keep fit, socialising,

Reading and music.
