Person History
It is very difficult for the spouse of a wellknown person to step outside the shadow of the
well-known half. Maryann Klabal has done it,
however. She does not let her husbands
reputation (A) to overcome / overcome her
own work. Mirek Klabal, a successful art dealer, is Maryanns husband.
Together they run and own MK Fine Arts, an art gallery in New York in which
they display a prized collection of art works by many famous artists.
Maryann is an integral part of the success of the gallery. At first clients
associated the gallery with Mirek, but over time Maryanns knowledge and
personality have won over clients so she is no longer (B) working / work
solely in his shadow. Mirek himself acknowledges that his wifes contribution
(C) has changed / has been changed the perception of the gallery in the eyes
of his clients.
Both Mirek and Maryann try hard to know their clients inside and out so that
they can match their taste, lifestyle and house with the right work of art. Art
expresses everything and anything we might be feeling. A piece of art that
expresses something contrary to a persons personality will

Person History
Italian glass makers who had learned to blow and produce glass for reading
stones, later made lenses that they could hold in a frame in front of one eye
instead of right on the reading material. The idea to frame two round glasses
using wood or horn was first introduced in the 13th century.
It has been said that the first known scientific reference to the ability of lenses
to correct vision and allow someone (A) to read / read was created in 1282.
Salvino DArmate of Pisa and Alessandro Spina of Florence are often said to
have invented glasses around 1284, but no collaborating evidence has been put
forth yet. The first written reference to glasses was written in 1284. And there
are other references to them after this time in a variety of texts, but none of
these written references mentions the actual inventor.
In the Middle Ages wearing glasses signified knowledge and learning. People
who used them were those who could read: the educated and the
knowledgeable. Painters of the time often included spectacles when (B)
portrayed / portraying famous persons even when depicting people who lived
before the invention of spectacles. Some painters painted portraits of people
(C) wore / wearing glasses even though these
people didnt wear or use them. Why did they do
that? Perhaps the person thought a picture of

Food Health
Americans wanting to improve their health and treat many common ailments
should learn about the fruit called Noni. People in south Asia and Polynesia like
it very much. Traditionally South Pacific Islanders have used the fruit and every
part of the tree (bark, roots, leaves, etc.) in traditional medicine. With Noni,
these peoples have treated medical problems ranging from insomnia to
inflammation of the joints. The fruit has been grown and harvested for over
2,000 years. Fresh Noni fruit smells very pungent. It is not an aroma people
normally associate with fruit. And the riper the fruit is, the stronger the smell
gets.
The Western scientific community has taken the
fruit and has started testing the Islanders claims.
Scientists have discovered that the fruit contains a
substance known as a Non-ppt which keeps the
immune system of humans in tiptop condition. It
might also fight off cancerous tumours. As a result, scientists are pushing ahead
with further studies on the medicinal properties of this fruit. Perhaps theyll be
able to make a miracle medicine based on its chemical compounds.
Consuming fresh Noni fruit is (way, the, benefit, healthiest, to) from its
properties. But in contemporary Western civilizations, fresh Noni fruit is hard to
come by, but for those of us who are unable to obtain fresh Noni fruit, it is
available world wide in both capsules and juice.

Every hospital tries hard to make sure its interior is pleasant, warm and inviting
so that patients will feel comfortable. The ultimate goal is to create a home-like
atmosphere.
For a long time, oil paintings have been put
up in hospitals and other healthcare
facilities. The directors of such institutions
have long thought that such paintings would
not only make their hospitals look more
pleasant but they would also improve the
patients mental health.
The simple act of hanging beautiful oil paintings on the wall may make a huge
difference in a patients overall disposition. In addition, analysis of hospital
statistics has confirmed that visual art and wall decor can reduce the use of
pain-killing medicine throughout the hospital floor.
Art has always been associated with a positive effect on both health and
wellbeing. Art can help fade levels of anxiety and depression in patients during
the wait prior to surgery.

Perhaps youve heard of YouTube. Its a popular website where netizens can
watch videos created by other netizens. What do you think about creating and
posting your own YouTube video?
The most obvious con is that you are
sharing something with the whole
world. If your video is successful, the
whole world will want to know more
about you. If you dont want the
world to inquire more deeply about
you, you should think twice before
posting a video on YouTube. The key is being aware of what you are posting.
You must ask yourself how it can be used by others.
With regard to the pros of using YouTube, the most obvious pro is that the
website is so easy to use. Another thing that you can think of as a pro is that you
can easily share your video with others including family and friends. Of course
it can be dangerous to share it with the whole world, but the risk might be worth
it since

Nanotechnology is the study of things that are smaller than 100 or 200

(A)
This fresh look provided clear evidence that the device
to
compute eclipses of the sun and moon. Scientists suspect that the mechanism
was also able to show the motions of the planets. A user could pick a day in the
future and, using some sort of crank, work out a planets position on that date.
All these findings show that the Antikythera mechanism was perhaps 1,000
years ahead of any other mechanism discovered from its time period.
(B)
Computers go back further in history than you might imagine. A mysterious
mechanism was found in a 2,000-year-old Greek shipwreck. Known as the
Antikythera mechanism, the device is about the size of a shoebox. When it was
found underwater about 100 years ago, the mechanism was in poor shape. Its
metal pieces had congealed into one mass, then broken into pieces.
(C)
People who studied what was left of the mechanism suspected that it had
something to do with astronomy. To find out more, researchers used advanced
imaging methods with X-ray, to look inside the
metal fragments and to check for ancient writing
on the device. And the researchers discovered
that the mechanism had at least 30 bronze gears
with as many as 225 teeth, likely all cut by hand.

Passage
People dont always agree with each other. It is, however, natural for you to
want to get others to agree with you. If you cant get them to agree with you,
you at least want them to understand your point of view.
One persuasive technique is the metaphorical method. Just as in good writing,
using other words can help you persuade someone of your viewpoint. If you
want to convince someone of the benefits of a new water heater, you might
argue that the new water heater represents a money maker because of its
efficiency and better energy consumption.
The second technique is to use descriptive words. People can become persuaded
by the details rather than the bigger ideas. When you are persuading someone
into viewing something the same way you do, you should use more descriptive
words in order to have them (you, the, that,
do, situation, the, see, way).
The last persuasive technique has to deal
with the other persons emotional state. You
may want to say things which they want to
hear and which make them smile. You must plan and consider how someone
will be affected by different ideas before you begin trying to convince them.

Passage
You probably have taken tons of pictures with your digital camera, and unless
you want to see them on your computer forever, youll eventually want to print
them out. You can take them to the local one hour photo store. But you can also
consider buying a digital printer for your camera. As with every type of
technology, there are many different models (A) choose / to choose from at
your local electronics shop. What are the basics you need to know to pick out
the right one?
You need to know that digital camera printers come in
three types: 4-color printers, 6-color printers, and 8color printers. The higher the number of
, the higher the
that will
turn out!
Another difference among printers is the way they
print photographs. There are two printing methods
now on the market: ink-jet and thermal. The major
difference between the two methods is that the thermal
printing method puts a waterproof coating on the photograph. All photographs
fade, but (B) coating / coated photographs fade much more slowly.
A third thing to think about when (C) buying / bought a digital camera printer
is the quality of the image it makes with different types of paper. If you make a
print with cheaper paper, will the quality of the image be too low? Before you
buy, ask how that printer handles different paper qualities.

Our workaholic culture creates inner psychological forces which impel us into
uncontrolled activity all day long. We believe everything to be urgent and so we
become overactive and stressed. It can lead us to the edge. But we can avoid a
breakdown by learning to develop the other polarity. And in order for us to do
that, we should be relaxed and introspective.
Relaxation is stretching, walking in nature, spending
time with loved ones, and doing soulful tasks. It is a
goal-less activity. Its purpose is to experience being
over doing. It gives us time to think about what we
want to do in our life and what brings meaning to our
life.
Starting to think about our life means we are starting
to be introspective. We can further develop this part of
our polarity by keeping a diary which helps us think
about our behavior. Reading will also lead to introspection since we can
compare our life and our choices with those of others. We must find strategies
to bring wholeness to our life.

Italian glass makers who had learned to blow
and produce glass for reading stones, later
made lenses that they could hold in a frame in
front of one eye instead of right on the reading
material. The idea to frame two round glasses
using wood or horn was first introduced in the
13th century.
It has been said that the first known scientific
reference to the ability of lenses to correct vision
and allow someone to read was created in 1282.
Salvino DArmate of Pisa and Alessandro Spina
of Florence are often said to have invented
glasses around 1284, but no collaborating
evidence has been put forth yet. The first written
reference to glasses was written in 1284. And
there are other references to them after this time
in a variety of texts, but none of these written
references mentions the actual inventor.
In the Middle Ages wearing glasses signified
knowledge and learning. People who used them
were those who could read: the educated and
the knowledgeable. Painters of the time often
included spectacles when portraying famous
persons even when depicting people who lived
before the invention of spectacles. Some
painters painted portraits of people wearing
glasses even though these people didnt wear or
use them. Why did they do that? Perhaps the

Americans wanting to improve their health and
treat many common ailments should learn about
the fruit called Noni. People in south Asia and
Polynesia like it very much. Traditionally South
Pacific Islanders have used the fruit and every
part of the tree (bark, roots, leaves, etc.) in
traditional medicine. With Noni, these peoples
have treated medical problems ranging from
insomnia to inflammation of the joints. The fruit
has been grown and harvested for over 2,000
years. Fresh Noni fruit smells very pungent. It is
not an aroma people normally associate with
fruit. And the riper the fruit is, the stronger the
smell gets.
The Western scientific community has taken the
fruit and has started testing the Islanders
claims. Scientists have discovered that the fruit
contains a substance known as a Non-ppt
which keeps the immune system of humans in

Downsides and Plus Sides of Uploading Videos
on YouTube(
).
| |
Perhaps youve heard of YouTube. Its a popular
website where netizens can watch videos
created by other netizens. What do you think
about creating and posting your own YouTube
video?
The most obvious con is that you are sharing
something with the whole world. If your video is
successful, the whole world will want to know
more about you. If you dont want the world to
inquire more deeply about you, you should think
twice before posting a video on YouTube. The
key is being aware of what you are posting. You
must ask yourself how it can be used by others.
With regard to the pros of using YouTube, the
most obvious pro is that the website is so easy
to use. Another thing that you can think of as a
pro is that you can easily share your video with
others including family and friends. Of course it
can be dangerous to share it with the whole
world, but the risk might be worth it since the
people who matter will get to see it. Lastly,
although a large number of Internet users use
YouTube videos for fun or for personal reasons,
there are many others who use them for
business.

By looking deep into a persons eyes, you may

Our eyeballs are like small, round mirrors.
Covered by a layer of salty fluid (tears), their

Scientists invented computer programs that

these programs can pinpoint what the person is

People dont always agree with each other. It is,
however, natural for you to want to get others to
agree with you. If you cant get them to agree
with you, you at least want them to understand
your point of view.
One persuasive technique is the metaphorical
method. Just as in good writing, using other
words can help you persuade someone of your
viewpoint. If you want to convince someone of
the benefits of a new water heater, you might
argue that the new water heater represents a
money maker because of its efficiency and
better energy consumption.
The second technique is to use descriptive
words. People can become persuaded by the

You probably have taken tons of pictures with
your digital camera, and unless you want to see
them on your computer forever, youll eventually
want to print them out. You can take them to the
local one hour photo store. But you can also
consider buying a digital printer for your camera.
As with every type of technology, there are many
different models to choose from at your local
electronics shop. What are the basics you need
to know to pick out the right one?
You need to know that digital camera printers
come in three types: 4-color printers, 6-color
printers, and 8-color printers. The higher the
number of colors, the higher the quality that will
turn out!
Another difference among printers is the way
they print photographs. There are two printing
methods now on the market: ink-jet and thermal.
The major difference between the two methods
is that the thermal printing method puts a
waterproof coating on the photograph. All
photographs fade, but coated photographs fade
much more slowly.

reality based and they show people in either
funny or weird situations. Checking out the daily
barrage of user created content (UCC) on the
Internet every night has replaced a night of TV
watching for many people. TV is not likely to go
away, but it will be interesting to see how it
develops in the face of such a growing challenge
from UCC spreading over the Internet.
Funny clips are the most popular on the Internet
as people like to laugh after a hard day at school
or work. Its hard not to laugh at the stupid and
silly things people videotape themselves doing.
If anyone anywhere has imagined doing
something, someone somewhere has probably
done it, videotaped it and posted it on the
Internet for all to see. Its like laugh medicine for
netizens who want to ease their pain and
fatigue.
Surfing the Net, one can freely watch any UCC
one desires. Of course TV is free too, but on the
Internet we have a much greater choice of
things to amuse ourselves. And all this watching
of UCC often inspires the watcher to get into the
game. And its so easy to do so. One just needs
a video camera.
