Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to you to apply for a teaching position as a lecturer or assistant professor of

Computer Science at your institute. I believe that my background education along with more than
twenty five years of teaching experience and research, in Iraq and Jordan, would qualify me to
effectively contribute to the success of this institution.

Since 1984, I have been an educator who is involved in the effective training of students as well
as contribution to some efforts of research. I started my career as a research assistant at
Mathematics dept/ Basrah University/ Iraq (1976-1978), where I was giving tutorials to students
in different Math subjects, then as Lecturer and assistant professor (1984-2000), where I was
teaching a wide range of Computer Science courses in both undergraduate and graduates levels.
This also included supervising three Ph.D. degree theses and eleven Master degree theses; being a
head of Computer Science department for three years, and a member of many academic and
examination committees.

From 2000 to 2009, I taught at Philadelphia University/Jordan, where I was a head of Software
Engineering Dept. for two years and a head of Applied Computer Science Dept. for one year as
well as teaching Computer Science courses at undergraduate and master levels. There, I taught
many advanced courses including programming courses with different programming languages
such as Java, C++, C#, Prolog and information retrieval and the web courses.

At present, I am not working as I am new comer who recently came to settle down in Canada.

I employ different strategies to motivate the students and help them overcome their challenges
and benefit from the course by having the students do in-class tutorials and in-lab small problem
solving in addition to assigning homework. The students are also expected to write a short paper
in some advanced courses and doing one final programming project.

My research area mainly entails parallel processing and neural networks, specifically using
Adaptive Neural Networks employing a clustering algorithm to calculate a compressible fluid
flow represented by velocity profiles through symmetrical double steps channels. The clustering
algorithm is based on the speed of flow, the flow deflection and the average of false diffusion
error.

All my lectures are delivered to students by using power point slides and communicated with
students through emails. In addition, I used e-course software to develop my traditional course
content, post assignments and to have a chance to communicate with my students freely at any
time during the day.

I have participated in curriculum development at Faculty of IT. I was the organizer of the Faculty
curriculum set up committee who helped in the development of the four IT programs: Computer
Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, and Management Information
Systems.

In addition, I was responsible for setting up the quality assurance standards for the education at
Philadelphia University/Jordan and I was the institutional facilitator for different programmes at
the University when they participated in quality assurance reviews carried out by British and
American review teams.

1
My years of being an educator in a wide variety of courses and my great knowledge in quality
assurance have given me the experience needed to employ numerous teaching and assessment
methods as well as very good student guidance. I believe I would be able to work effectively
with the diverse student population that attends this institute.

It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate,

enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to the institution. Please
feel free to contact me through with the information provided or leave a message at any time at
my mobile.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely yours,

Nadia Y. Yousif
