EDUCATING FUTURE LEADERS
INTRODUCTION
Do we want educated leaders for our world tomorrow? Yes! Education must start from an
early age. Primary-ages kids are failing writing and reading standards, and a simple solution
for modern kids is to create an app that helps them learn while also having fun.
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
To educate the future leaders of the world, by helping them excel in reading and writing at
an early age.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Mobile App Industry
Industry: Mobile app industry.
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: High The buyer power is high in this industry, as buyers
have many apps to choose from, with all different
ranges and needs to suit customers.
Supplier power: Low Supplier power is low as there are several firms,
and individuals supplying and marketing different
apps, therefore supplier power is low.
Threat of new entrants: Moderate The threat of new entrants is moderate as the
barriers to entry into this industry are now
reducing, due to quick and inexpensive platforms
to build apps being readily available in the market

Threat of substitutes: High There has been an increase in app development
across all platforms, causing high availibilty of
similar apps for the same or cheaper price,
sometimes even free. This means that the threat
of substitutes in this industry is high.
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
High The rivalry among existing competitors is high, as
there is stiff competition between competitors to
provide the best quality apps to consumers. With
the entrance of Android into the smartphone
market, there has been increasing competition
between leading platform developers.

Overall attractiveness of the industry: This industry is a difficult industry to enter into, as
indicated by the high buyer power and threat of substitues, as well as the fierce copeition
between existing rivals. Due to this, it seems to be an unattractive industry to enter into.
3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs
The customer our product/solution targets are mainly children who are finding it difficult to
comprehend terms, thus leading to fail writing standards. Reading had also become less of
a hobby to children and more of a chore, according to Vaimoana Tapaleao, New Zealand
Herald (2012). This indicated that children found reading to be boring and uninteresting.
Their needs were to understand termanology in a way that is both fun and educational, and
with the increasing use of smartphones and technology, a fun and educational app was the
solution to their problem. This is useful for the children, as the app will engage them in the
way technology does, as well as helping them learn.

3.4 The Product and Service
The product seected is an innovative app designed for children to help further their skills in
reading and writing. This is done by enagaing the children through the app in a fun way that
will enagage them, and also educate them at the same time.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
In order to develop the app, we will need suppliers to provide us with the app development
tools, such as an app maker like Mobile Roadie. Once obtained, we need programmers to
actually make the app. Partners we need for this solution are app platforms, such as Apple
AppStore and Google Play. Without them, there would be no way for us to market our
product, and there would be no way for our consumers to be able to use them. Additional
suppliers could include additional programmers to keep track of the app, make sure
everything is running smoothly, and that there are no bugs that need to be fixed.
3.6 Strategy: Focused Low Cost
Our companys strategy is Focused Low Cost. We will only be targeting school-aged children
as our consumers, so our our target market is narrow. The app needs to be easy-to-us, as it
is designed for chilren, which means that the cost of devloping the app will not be as much
as for something that is aimed at adults.
The overall strategy is therefore focused low cost, as it reflects the narrow scope of our
market and

The most important value chain activity for this business is Make the product or service.
This is because it will aid in the vision to educate children, as we will learn what will work
through beta testing and what will not work.

3.8.1. PRODUCT DESI GN PROCESS - This is a significant process in the value chain as it is in
this stage the product is designed to satisfy customer demands and needs, in this case the
struggling children. This step focuses on designing a product to specifications that will be of
aid to the customer. Since our focus is on Making the product and/or service, we need the
product to be in-full and in-spec.
3.8.2. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS - This stage is crucial for the business as it is here
where the beta testing results are analysed, further developed and marketed. This stage
sets out to make the customer in mind satisfied with the outcome of the product in terms of
quality and in developed concept that is of value for the identified customer.

3.10. 1. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHI P SYSTEM It is important that we gather feedback from the
parents of the children who use our app in order to improve our app to suit their needs, as
well to ensure that our customers are satisfied.
3.10. 2. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM This system will b used to test the reliability of the
app, which will be done through beta testing and further on through feedback from parents.
3.10. 3. QUALI TY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - This system ensures optimal execution within the
design and development stages, in order to execute the functionality of reviewing platform
capability. This system ensures that our app is of the highest quality. It will guarantee
high performance within the development and planning stages.
