Macro economics of LNG
Market Trends
LNG is becoming a more and more important and
available fuel for industry, power generation and
transportation.
Number of countries importing LNG
is increasing rapidly.
LNG Development
Many large LNG carriers and LNG import/export
terminals under construction and proposed.
Growing need for small and medium scale infra to
serve local demands.
Industry Analysis
LNG represents currently about 10 %of the global
gas consumption The share is expected to
increase to 15%as the absolute volume is expected
to double by 2030.
Trading/shipping restricted by infrastructure today
(export/import capasity)
LNG Market today
Japan and Korea are the largest consumers, roughly
50%of the LNG consumption, followed by China,
Spain, UK, India and Taiwan, which together
consume about 25%

LNG in Argentina
Market Trends
LNG is going to sustain as a important fuel at least
for the next 5 10 years depending on shale gas
and pipeline infrastructure developments.
The LNG consumption will increase due to declining
production and pipeline restrictions since the need
of energy is increasing due to the country is
expanding.
LNG Development
New FSRUs are planned in other locations.
Oil & Gas companies are developing new
production wells (shale gas) that still needs heavy
development investments ( YPF, Total, Chevron
etc).
Future of LNG
In today's gas resource development process
Argentina might become self sufficient of natural
gas in next 10 - 15 years, even an LNG exporter?
LNG Market today
About 20 %of the energy need in Argentina is
covered by imported LNG from various destinations,
both on contract and spot loads.
Long term supply contracts under negotiations ?

The future of LNG in Argentina
Summary & Conclusion
9 April 2014 LNG for small & mediumscale energy infrastructure.pptx / J ens Norrgrd
Revision: Status: Wrtsil
Summary & Conclusion
The long term future of LNG in Argentina is
depending on the shale gas developments
There will be a demand for energy but the question is,
will it be imported LNG or domestic natural gas ?
Will Argentina become a exporter of natural gas to
Chile, Uruguay and Brasil ?
There are many opportunities and solutions to provide
fuel (LNG) to the domestic market, feasibility models
for each of them are different and have to be
evaluated case by case
Depending on the Shale gas development in
Argentina in next 5 10 years will determine the
amount of imported LNG to Argentina.
