1. The Department ot Education (DepEdi shall conduct the Brlgad.a Eskwcld 2OL4
also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week from May 19 to 24' 2014. This
school maintenance effort engages all educarion staleholders to contribut their rime,
efort aJrd resources in ensuring tha! the public school faciiilies are ready in time for the
forthcoming school opening.
2. On May 19, regional alld schools division ollices will hold a caravan to launch the
first day of Bn?ada EskLLela 2o\4. A kick off ceremony will be held in a public school,
which
js
the final stop ofthe caravan.
3. All Adopt'a School Prog.am (ASP) partners and other orga.nizations vhich are
interested lo be involved in the school maintenance program sha11 coordinate with the
Oiice of Undersecretary for Partnerships and Extemal Linkages (OUPEL) through ASP
Secreiarjar, fo. guidarce. Interested grorips are advised to accomplish the enclosed
Statement of Interest (SOI) Foirn and submit it through email lo
b.ieadaeskwela.deped(iemarl.com on or before May 12, 2014.
4. For this yeat, the Bngada Eskwela ellott will iocus on making schools disaster-
ready, and on developing disaster resilient school communities. To ease the schools'
nrlnerabilily to boih natural and human made disasLers, school principals shall take the
lead role in planning activities to promote a safe school environment al]d nsuring the
participation of teachers, parents, community members, local authorities, al1d other
concemed srakehotders in this undetaking. ln pursuit of this direction, school
principals or orher school auihoities are expected to reinlorce the implementation of
DepEd Order No. 83, s. 201 1 entitled Dsaster Preparedness Measures

5. During the Bngada Eskuelaweek, key education oficials from the Central Olfice
shall be monitoring lhe implementation of the proganl in schools within the regions
where the omcials a-re assigned.
6. At1 DepEd emptoyees are encouraged to
joln the Bigalla Eskuela activities by
offering their skills or providing their in-kind support to public schools near their
residence. Interested employees ar given two days to do volunteer work on olflclal tlme,
provided that such work is apprcved by their respective heads ofo{fics.
7. Expenses relative to the conduct of this activiry shall be cha.rged to local funds,
subject to the usuat accounting and auditing rules and regrlations.
