How people learn languages
Language is the mean to communicate between people. As of the 20

century English has been used as a
global language, thans to the need of communication on a common ground within trade and politics.
!ecent studies re"eal that English is spoen by one third of the global population, as first or second
language due to different historical e"ents

It is logical for many to learn English for different purposes, be that for business, culture, accomplishing
a tas or $ust for fun. %he different conte&ts, reasons and class arrangements will determine the way
English is taught

. Age, mental and physical health, en"ironment, etc. can influence the learner's ability
to comprehend and use the achie"ed material.
%o mention a few more nown conte&ts where people can learn English and ac(uire different le"els
)beginners, intermediate, ad"anced* of a language they tae part courses in+
School , as part of the curriculum for free
Language schools - paid e&tracurricular course in large.small groups or one,on,one
Virtual learning environment with the help of online teachers, audio,"isual materials )/d*,
tandem courses with a nati"e speaer, etc.
Living in the target-language community by ac(uiring and using the daily language.
%here are many theories dealing with learning styles. It depends on born abilities and e&ternal
influences

linguistic, and logical2 by recognising and understanding these styles you can help your students in
learning easier and more efficiently

colour coding, using different colours to illustrate parts of speach )e&. use different nuances of
green for present, blue for past and red for future tenses*
use ob$ect from your pencil case to associate them with a grammar problem while learning, it
triggers memories when you see it during e&am )e&. pencil is for the acti"e, eraser for the passi"e

symbols, illustrations, flash cards can represent grammar parts, "ocabulary, listening etc.

classical music to help focus on the problem, research shows that some people can memorise
better while listening to music

films, songs and speaing)listening* to nati"e speaers for de"eloping pronunciation and accent
li"ing in a community where English is used

charts, boos and diagrams for grammar problems

In conclusion I would recommend students to find their learning style by trying out the aforementioned
techni(ues and selecting those which they found the most useful. %eachers can mae use of the learning
styles by adapting their way of teaching to be compatible whit it.
