East European Missions Network has had English Bible camps in East
Europe and Russia for 12 years. Each year more and more requests are
received from churches, public schools and various ministries to do
camps. Camps are for one week and include Bible lessons, drama, sports,
crafts and music.! Two meals are served to the students who range in age
from 1st to 12th grade.! (Also some adults)
Learning English is the appeal because many people feel that children
must know English in order to succeed in today's world.!Local churches
and schools advertize that American teachers will be available for
conversational English camp and kids love it because the English they
learn in school is British English and they think American English is very
"cool."!

The curriculum used in all the camps is based on Bible stories and
includes memorizing scripture verses and singing Christian praise and
Gospel songs.! The primary goal of the teachers is to build relationships
with their students so that kids who may never have known a Christian
before will overcome suspicions and negative impressions of the past.!
Each American teacher has a translator who is an English teacher in the
host country.! Over
the years many
students and
teachers have come
to faith through
these camps.!

a group of several million people who have their own language and culture.

Scudder Memorial Hospiital in Ranipet,South India

has a long history of serving the poor in the
surrounding villages. However, it is best known for its
School of Nursing, a three-year diploma program with
a current enrollment of 100 students. The school
trains young men and women to care for the sick and
promote health and wholeness in the name of Jesus
Christ.

Most of the students are from very poor families and

depend on loans and scholarships to complete their
education. After an additional year of
internship, graduates of the program readily find
employment and are soon able to support themselves
