Who Should Attend?
The 21st century has brought about new social
demands that necessitate every citzen to possess
additonal set of skills to eectvely integrate in the
society. Learning to collaborate with others and
connect through technology is increasingly being
reported as essental skills in a knowledge-based
economy. Most researchers agree that the 21st
century society need: new ways of working;
thinking; tools to carry out certain task; and new
set of skills for living which are dierent from those
of the 20th century society. The educatonal sector
has the capacity to prepare learners to respond to
these new demands. Educators as the key actors in
the entre process are required to regularly update
their skills to successfully implement any reforms
that lead to quality learning outcomes for every
learner. The goals of professional development for
educators are to assist them to get a beter
understanding of research-based instructonal
strategies and to deepen their capabilites to
improve students achievement. This conference
perceives technology integraton skills in teaching
and learning; methodologies and strategies in
teaching, learning and assessment; leadership in
teaching and learning; curriculum for the 21st
century and quality assurance in teaching and
learning as some of the key themes that can kick
start some discussions on how best to improve the
quality of teaching and learning in the 21st
century. This conference focuses on ve sub
themes deemed important to inform practtoners
and policy makers on challenges and aspiratons of
the 21st century for lecturers and teachers.
This conference aims to bring together innovatons
and ideas in higher educaton on one common
platorm. Innovators and practtoners will have a
chance to share their ndings and experiences as
well as explore the many technologies that have
shaped, and will contnue to inuence higher
educaton and ODL. Hence, the conference is open
to all, including academics, researchers, lifelong
learning educators, open learning specialists,
innovators, leaders of ODL insttutons,
superintendents, school principals, school
administrators, teachers, tutors, and students.
