In Kuttalam CCPP, the plant C&I is supplied with Max DNA control system. The additional feature in this part is the steam turbine control is through TMR, which is advantageous, as it provides a back up for electronics instead of the normal mechanical back up by its own replica of hardware/software.
During commissioning of the TMR, the following problems are faced, which are as follows:-
The A&I card failure was attended at END/Bangalore works and made ready after thorough checks.
The Logic differences and display logics were cleared through a modified software brought by EDN/Bangalore engineer and the same is tested and found OK.
During changeover from TMR 1 to TMR 2, it was found that the IP, LP control system outputs were saturated at 100% and there was no change for different conditions. Up on checking on-line, we found that one 4-20 mA to 0-10V converter has failed, which has to be repaired at EDN/Bangalore. The other two TMRs were checked by initiating the changeover manually and later through auto by creating a difference in output and both the changeovers are very smooth and found to be OK.
TMR 1 TMR 3 changeover and its vise a- versa also checked and found to be OK.
At present, the machine is running on TMR 1 with TMR 3 as back up.
