Preacher's Corner
ABOm" ChRISTOS DANIKA5
We have recently received word from our
GOOD FRIEND CHRISTOS. MANY OF YOU WILL
REMEMBER THAT OUR CONGREGATION GAVE,HIM
LIVING LINK SUPPORT UNTIL HE RETURNED TO
O Greece. At that time,
HE was forced to GIVE
UP ALL OUTSIDE SUPPORT
IN ORDER TO BE IN GOOD
GRACES WITH THE GrEEK
GOVERNMENT.
Circumstances have con
siderably CHANGED, AND
THE NEW Testament
CHURCH IS NOW GETTING OFFICIAL RECOGNI
TION FROM THAT GOVERNMENT, AND THF CON
GREGATION THERE WILL SOON RECEIVE A LI
CENSE TO WORSHIP IN ITS OWN BUILDING.
Through the sacrificial offerings of the
Greek Christians, they have collected
$|lt,000. They need another $8,000 to
purchase the building FOR public WOR
SHIP. These people average $150 per
month total INCOMEli
Christos stressed strongly in his letter
THAT HE IS NOT seeking SUPPORT FOR HIS
FAMILY. The congregation is self-sup
porting.
Our eloers have endorsed this work and
THEY ARE cooperating WITH OUR MISSIONARY
committee in presenting this GREAT NEED
TO our congregation and to the brother
hood. Mrs, Russell Kill, 220 Case St.,
IS the forwarding agent for Christos.
I HAVE KNOWN Christos since shortly af
ter HIS CONVERSION TO ChRIST, AND 1 HAVE
BEEN GREATLY IMPRESSED WITH HIS SINCERI
TY AND DEVOTION TO THE CAUSE OF CHRIST.
I HAVE BEEN HIGHLY IMPRESSED WITH THE
MISSIONS PROGRAM OF OUR SISTER CONGREGA
TION, THE Hessville church IN Hammond.
In addition to all their other work in
VARIOUS MISSIONS FIELDS, THEY SUPPORT
ONE MAN, Ronald Rife, "full-time" to the
EXTENT OF $|2,000 PER YEAR IN THE AFRI
CAN WORK. When he comes home, he is a
STAFF MEMBER OF THAT CHURCH, AND THE
"pressure" is OFF HIM SO FAR AS ATTEMPT
ING TO BRING HIS SUPPORT UP TO A "LIVING
wage" LEVEL IS CONCERNED.
I WONDER IF WE MIGHT LOOK INTO THE FU
TURE AND CONSIDER SOME SUCH STEP AS WE
CONTINUE TO KEEP OUR MOTTO "OTHERS"
