Events for all audiences at venues around Rayleigh
In this Olympic and Paralympic year, there is an international
theme to the Rayleigh Arts Festival, which welcomes the world
with music, dance and art from around the globe.
Our opening event will see the High Street come alive with
Brazilian Capoeira dance, a Scottish Pipe Band and traditional Chinese dance to
name a few. Children and families can try out world-wide art techniques such as
Aboriginal Dream Time painting and Japanese Book Binding all for free.
Home-grown talent and the creativity of our young people are also celebrated with
the popular return of the Young & Talented Showcase and the first
Rayleigh SX Urban Games.
The hundreds of artists, performers and volunteers taking part in
this year's Festival come from Rochford and Essex. Rochford
District Council, and Festival sponsors Virgin Active, are proud to
support local arts, culture and creativity.
The full diary of Festival events is over the following pages. We
hope residents and visitors will enjoy what's on in Rayleigh this
September.
Puppetry, illusion and
music combine to create a
magical version of the tale of
Pinocchio, a puppet that wants to be
a real boy. A theatre show with a big
heart and something for all ages.
