Communications & Media Relations Intern

Within this position, he or she will have the main responsibility of handling all
communications to external stakeholders. This includes developing the
biannual E-newsletter and its content. In addition, he or she will handle all
Office of Community Engagement activity on social media.
Intern Duties
Create content and research relevant content to be published in the bi-
annual E-newsletter
Research and come up with creative ways to incorporate social media
into the Office of Community Engagement e-newsletter in order to boost
subscribers
Create new content to publish on Facebook and Twitter accounts
Monitor and respond to comments; engage fans and followers in
conversations
Collaborate with other interns on specific projects relating to Good
Neighbor Day and Maryland Day
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in AP
Style is a plus
Strong proofreading and copyediting skills
Able to work independently and complete assigned tasks before its
deadlines
Strong familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc
Able to take and upload digital photos; familiarity with Photoshop a plus
Graphic Design Intern
Within this position, he or she will have the main responsibility of producing all
marketing materials for Office of Community Engagement. This includes
developing literature for the offices signature programs and other initiatives.
Intern Duties
Design promotional materials including ads, posters, banners, brochures
and content for the campus community engagement website and Office
of Community Engagement programs and projects
Help the Office of Community Engagement with general outreach at
campus events
Qualifications
Have an excellent eye for design
Photography skills (to help document campus events and projects)
Familiarity with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver
High School Assistantship
Within this position, he or she will have the main responsibility of providing the
Office of Community Engagement staff with administrative support in the
implementation of projects that harness UMD resources to enhance quality of
life in Prince Georges County, MD.
Intern Duties
Work with a variety of stakeholders in local government, business, non-
profit organizations, and the campus community to plan, implement and
evaluate community engagement projects
Help the Office of Community Engagement with general outreach at
campus events
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills
Good organization skills
Attention to detail to help plan high-profile events
