Welcome
Thank you for buying a Cutting Plotter from PremierSign. We sincerely hope that you find it useful.

In this document you will find all the information you need to get started with your cutter.

The first thing you should do is

1. Register online http://www.premiersign.co.uk/register.asp this allows us to send you
updates, news etc.

2. Read all of the information contained on our support page which can be found at
http://www.premiersign.co.uk. You will also find other drivers, manuals, instructions etc.

3. Set up the USB/RS232 Cable (See next page).

4. for winPCSIGN users: Install your software (Run Launch.exe
from the CD, password is ce168x), and Train yourself! (Run
TRAINING1CD.exe from the CD)

5. Enrol for membership at http://www.uksignboards.com/ for loads of tips on sign making.

Your plotter is sold with a 1 year Return to Base (RTB) warranty as standard and the warranty starts from
the day the plotter was sent to you (if you return the warranty card at the back of this booklet). If you
would like to take advantage of our extended warranty offer (see the support section on the website) then
the cost is: RS360C - 50.00, RS720C - 60.00, RS800C - 60.00, RS1100C - 75.00, RS1360C -
100.00. This offer is strictly limited to one month from the purchase date of the plotter.

We also supply the complete range of WinPCSign software and as the Distributor for the UK we are
pleased to include a free copy with your plotter.

If you wish to upgrade the software to a different package such as Corel Draw OEM 11 with SignCut-X2
then please see the upgrade offers on the website or contact us.

Start Here
IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE FOLLOWING PROCESS PLEASE VISIT

PROGRAM TO SUPPORT@PREMIERSIGN.CO.UK, WE WILL CONTACT YOU SOON AFTER AND
CARRY OUT THIS PROCESS FOR YOU.
Make sure the Computer and the plotter are on and the CD that came with the USB cable is in your CD drive;
connect the cable to the plotter, turn the plotter on.
1. Insert the USB/RS232 cable in a free USB port. If you are supplied with an USB Cable AND an RS232
serial cable then they MUST be joined.

2. Turn the plotter on
3. Windows should find the new hardware
4. Select Install from a specific location

5. Select Search for best driver and
include this location. Then select
Browse

5. Locate your CD drive (the CD drive
shown below is D: yours may be
different). Make sure you can see the
folders shown below and click on
USB2.0 to RS232 Cable, THEN
WINDOWS, THEN
WIN2K_XP_2003 folder/

Select OK

Wait for the Driver to install
You will now see the following screens in succession

Select Finish

At this point; pleaseWAIT until you see the following screen, then select FINISH. Your computer is
now ready to communicate with the plotter.

In Windows:
Select START, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device
Manager, then click the +to the left of Ports

Double click on USB Serial Port). Yours may not be 6 as
shown above.
Select PORT SETTINGS Make sure the Flow Control is set as
shown below.

Then you need to select advanced settings
Your screen may show a different panel to that shown below
but all you need to do is look for the Com Port Number.
Click on the arrow and change this number to the first FREE
port (ie. Com3). MAKE A NOTE OF THE COM PORT
NUMBER YOU CHOOSE*.

If your computer has no serial ports then set it to
Com3

SELECT OK TO ALL SETTINGS THEN
RESTART THE COMPUTER.

Installing winPCSIGN
Insert the CD into your CD drive, if it runs automatically see step 3 otherwise:

1. Select START, RUN and select LAUNCH from the CD

2. Click Open.
3. Select Install WinPCSIGN

Select Next

Read the terms and then select Next

For Redsail Plotters

Select Typical and then select Next, Install.

Now go to page 12

For VectorX Plotters
Select Custom then select Next

Select the REFINE driver

and enter the password (found on page 3)

START WinPCSign

Select Setting, Plotter codes, from the Menu

Select Add/Remove

Select the nearest plotter to your actual plotter size and
click Add then select OK.

This is where your plotter is now displayed, *Make sure THIS com port is the same as the one you set in
windows. Select Accept/Save.
You have now set up the communications. You should only ever need to do this once.

TEST CUT!
Start WinPCSIGN

Press the ESCape key

A selection screen is shown next,
you can start a new job, browse
the computer for a saved job, or select a recent job.

Start a NEW J OB

The screen shown next is where you set the SIGN size. Eg. If the dimensions of a sign that you are creating is
1234mm long by 345mm high, then that would be the size you set. For the first job
we will use A4 paper so the LENGTH is 290mm and the HEIGHT is 210mm. Once
again, this is the ACTUAL sign size, NOT the size of the material loaded into the
plotter. Enter the sizes, select mm,
Select OK.
At this point you may get a tip screen, close it.
The screen now shows you a page with a size of 290mm x 210mm high.

Select the shortcut text tool T, Click anywhere on the screen then Type in the Word TEST

To CUT you must use FILE, CUTTING PANEL, do NOT use PRINT.
Your plotter should be shown here.
1. You MUST set the material size to the ACTUAL height of your sign for EVERY J OB, in this case it
is 210mm. Erase whatever is there at the moment and enter 210. Then click on pressure this action will
erase any panels you may see.

Selected Object:
If you click on one or more objects then select Selected Object, only those objects will be cut. In this case I
selected the circle.

Advance:
If you select advance, when the plotter has finished the current
job it will automatically Advance the roll of vinyl ready for the
next job.

For the next action I have made the circle red: (Selected the
circle, then View, Colour Palette, then used the RIGHT HAND
MOUSE BUTTON to give the circle a red outline)

You will notice that on the Cutting Panel there are now two colours showing:

If I click on ANY individual colour then ONLY objects of that
colour will be cut. More than one colour can be selected or
obviously All colours.

OPTIONS

The only options you may use are
Sort objects (will allow the cutter to cut objects in a sorted
fashion rather than randomly)
Save material (will put all objects to be cut as close to the
bottom left corner as possible, thereby saving material)
Start point orientation is only used if the offset value needs to
be changed (for different degree blades).

Finally Select START, this sends data to the plotter.
SignCut X2
Installation.

Regardless of which method used you need
to have access to the Internet to register, if
you do not have access then you cannot use
SigncutX2 and you will need to upgrade to
the full dongle version which does not
require Internet access.
Register at signcut. http://www.sc-x2.com

To register click on Customer Login

Enter your details as requested.

You will receive a licence number by email. Please Retain this!

Next click Pricelist

The version is the 1 year subscription, if required, click on the
appropriate Buy Now button.

At this point you need to select Purchase Ticket from the drop
down menu and then enter your licence number that you received by email.

You will then be asked to enter a Ticket Code this can be found in your SigncutX2 package on a peach
coloured card.

If entered correctly your software will be registered immediately.

You should now proceed to the download section and download the latest version of SignCut-X2.

Addendum

The VectorX plotter is able to use the Redsail or the Refine drivers. If you find you have problems with the
Redsail drivers, install the Refine drivers by:

1.. Select Add/Remove programs in windows
control panel.

2.. Select Modify

3.. Move the screen down so you can see the
Refine driver, select it and follow the instructions.

Stand Assembly
Contents
2 x outer legs
2 x top sitters for the legs
2 x roller assemblies for the legs
1 x centre rail
2 x rollers
2 Castor wheel assemblies.

Use the 4 small screws to add the sitter
assembly to each of the legs

Then the longer screws attach the roller
assembly to each leg.

Take the screws and black inserts

Place the screws inside the inserts

Place the screws and the inserts into the sides of each leg

Assemble the centre rail on to the legs.

Assemble the centre rail onto the legs

Take the black caps and slot into the leg assembly

Take the screws shown, they screw together in the leg as shown
here:

Attach the roller guides to the outside of the legs as shown and use the screw assembly to attach the roller
guides.

Insert the rollers
Lift the plotter onto the assembly as shown. Make
sure each rubber leg sits into the holes provided.

The Castors can be locked or unlocked to allow
mobility.

Blade Setup
Setting up the blade and holder:

1. Remove the Blade Holder Head from the Blade Holder Shaft by turning it counter- clockwise.
2. If you are replacing a worn blade, remove the old blade from the Blade Holder shaft.
3. While holding the Blade Holder Head, take the new blade and drop the new blade into the Blade Holder
Head.
4. Make sure the blade passes through the hole on the Blade Holder Head.
5. Position the Blade Holder Head back in the Blade Holder Shaft and screw on until hand tight (The
holder should have no threads showing)
Put the blade holder in the carrier so that the cap sits on
top of the carrier holder.
Turn the plotter on. Adjust the pressure as shown here.
1. Set the pressure to 90
2. Turn the plotter offline
3. Press the TEST button once. A square will be cut. If
nothing happens then the online button needs to be pressed
once more.
4. Use the down arrow key to feed the vinyl forward
5. If the pressure is correct you should be able to peel the square out easily. If not then:
Press ONLINE. The cutter will return to its start point. Follow the instructions below.
a. Not cut deep enough: increase the pressure by 10, go back to step 2
b. Too deep (you can feel the cut on the backing material with your fingers): decrease the pressure by 10, go
back to step 2

Vinyl Application
1 - Position graphic or vinyl lettering complete with application top paper and backing, roughly where it is required.
2- Hold in place with masking (or similar) tape.

3 - Adjust position until the text is level or exactly where required.

4 - Stick a strip of tape along the entire top edge.

5 - You can now cut the graphic into more manageable pieces, without it moving.

6 - Working on one section at a time, hinge the graphic section up on the masking tape and pull down the backing paper.

Be careful to ensure the actual vinyl graphic remains on the top application paper.

7 - With the backing paper removed, gradually apply the graphic. Using a squeegee (or rag) apply pressure to the graphic
in a sideways motion, gradually moving down until the vinyl has been stuck
.
8 - Continue with the other sections of the graphic.
9 - Carefully remove the top application tape to leave only the vinyl.

10 - Any bubbles can be pricked with a pin and pressed down.

Alternative Wet Application

Fill a spray bottle with clean water and add 2 drops of Johnson's baby shampoo.

Spray a thin film of this water on to the surface of the job and the back of the vinyl (sticky side) just before sticking the
graphic down.

Allow to dry before removing the top application tape.
Wet application can be used in conjunction with the dry method described above
or
when position is not critical you can apply graphics wet without aligning first:

1 - Simply spray a film of water solution on the surface.
2 - Remove backing from graphic and slap on.
3 - Squeegee out water.
4 - Allow to dry before removing application tape.

Simply put, the larger the cutting angle the thicker the material that can be cut
effectively and the higher the offset the easier
the blade will rotate in the material.

The couriers in this country treat packages very roughly, occasionaly the carrier can become dislodged. Please
see the images below to rectify.
