SOCIETAS SPECTRA LEGIS

Societas Spectra Legis derives its name from the word Spectrum, wherein the latter is the
term describing the event where when light strikes a prism, the light separates into a
rainbow of colors; this is that which describes Spectra as well. Spectra Legis, as it is widely
known as, is comprised of a variety of people with distinctive personalities and a diversity
of traits called into one place to merge again into one light before having been separated by
a prism. As it is an apolitical organization, it is diverse in political and religious affiliations,
and such do not weaken us, and instead the diversity strengthens us. We will be Spectrans
wherever we go and at the end of the day, it is with the society where our loyalties lie. All
other affiliations are but incidental to our existence as individuals.

Spectra was first organized in the University of San Carlos Law School in Room 438 on
October 2001. Since then we have evolved and have spread our wings. Membership in
Spectra is perpetual. We now have member in other law school communities. Members of
Spectra, who are already lawyers are working in different aspects in the community
including public service.

The Society exists for a purpose undefined and unseen by those who look upon us. The
Society, from the first thought of its organization, has been established to work towards
unwavering service that we tender to our fellow Spectran. We have strived to nurture the
values of brotherhood, loyalty and excellence by choosing members who have shown the
distinctive Spectra Spirit.

As in every organization, we look up to one who leads us all toward our goal. The Primus
Inter Pares is chosen to lead and guide the members as we face the different challenges that
not only law school, but also what life has to offer, The duty of the Primus of not of self-gain
or self-righteousness, instead the duty of the Primus is to serve. He is not above all of the
members, but he is looked up to and would earn respect from all the members, since he is
the First Among Equals.

Thus it is not within ones own decision that you choose to be a Spectran, Spectra chooses
you. And once you are chosen to be a member of Spectra then you are drawn towards a life
that discourages glory only for oneself, but instead one would then turn to a greater
concept of cooperation and teamwork.

The diversity of the members is the very essence of Spectras existence and subsistence. It is
in this collective competencies that we continue to succeed in our endeavors. It is by our
virtues that we continually find the reason to emerge among the different organizations
that come before and after us.

We will and always be One in our goals. We will persevere, we will not fail. Once a Spectran,
always a Spectran. That is the measure of our resolve. Spectra Semper!
