Software requirements for running AVReporter software package
One of the following operating systems: o Windows XP SP3 (only for web or desktop client PC limited support) o Windows Vista (only for web or desktop client PC) o Windows 7 o Windows 8 or 8.1 o Windows Server 2008 o Windows Server 2012 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Microsoft Silverlight 5.0 or 5.1 Internet Explorer 8, 9,10 or 11, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera
Note: AVReporter can run in both 32-bit and 64-bit software environments. Installation process AVReporter comes with x64 and x86 setup files. Depending on the architecture of your CPU and operating system, you have to install the appropriate version.
Locate AVReporterSetup3R2_x64.exe or AVReporterSetup3R2_x86.exe and execute it. This file can be in a directory on your PC's hard drive if you opted to download AVReporter from our website. Make sure you run the installer under administrator privileges (right click on the executable file and select Run as administrator). The main window of the installer will lead you through the process. The top 2 elements represent the prerequisites of the AVReporter Software Package. In case you don't have .NET Framework 3.5 + SP1 installed, you are able to install it by clicking on its icon.
AVReporter database requires an SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2008 installation. The software package contains only the x64/x86 setup files of SQL Server 2012. Further information about SQL Server 2012 requirements: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506.aspx

AVReporter Quick Start - Step by Step
1. Install .NET framework v3.5: You need Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 to use AVReporter. If your computer does not have it installed or you do not know whether it does or not, press this button in order to check and acquire it. The frameworks installer will pop up. If you see options Repair and Remove, your computer is already equipped with this package; you can exit the installer and continue with step 2. Otherwise, accept the licence agreement and press Next. Your computer has to be connected to the Internet as the installer will download data before proceeding with the actual installation. Once the process is completed you can close the installer by pressing Exit. 2. SQL Server 2012 Express + AVReporter local database: this step is only required if you plan to use the AVReporter local database (to be able to import information from other databases or to import data from field devices such as data concentrators or logged power meters). Pressing this button will start the installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express with the AVReporter local database already configured. By clicking on the + button, you are able to select whether you want the install both the database and the SQL server, or its components only. For example if you have SQL Server 2008 or 2012 already installed, you are able to fetch the database creating script from here by clicking on Get install files.
Important: run Windows Update before installing SQL server prerequisites to ensure that you have an up-to-date operating system. Check the following directory for SQL Server installation logs if the installer gets interrupted by errors: c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ Note: some components (such as SQL Server Management Studio) of SQL Server installations of older versions may conflict with SQL Server 2012 or prevent its installation.
3. Select AVReporter Installation Package: Install AVReporter Core Application by selecting the appropriate installation package. It can be AVReporter Lite, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Client Standard or Client Express Edition. The selected installation package will include and install all the modules and plug-ins that comes with the given edition, so they do not have to be installed separately. Please refer to the table below to learn what the different editions include:

If you click Custom Installation, you can select the modules yourself that you wish to install. It can be useful if you upgrade your existing application or the installation process is interrupted for some reason. The installation process of the modules is as follows:
a) Desktop Manager: click here to install the base application of AVReporter. This step is required in order to install any of the modules of the suite. Once the installer appears, keep pressing Next until you get to the licence agreement. If you agree, check the appropriate box and press Next again. You can click Close to exit after the installation is finished. b) RealTime Data Service: click here to install AVReporters RealTime Data Service component. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. c) AVR Connection Center: click here to install AVReporters Connection Center plugin. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. d) OPC Server Service: click here to install AVReporters OPC Server Service component. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished
e) Advanced Virtual Device Manager: click here to install AVReporters Advanced Virtual Manager Plug-in. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. f) Basic Reporter: click here to install AVReporters Basic Reporter module. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. g) Energy Manager Summary: click here to install AVReporters Energy Manager Summary module. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. h) Business-Intelligence: click here to install AVReporters Business-Intelligence module. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. i) Alarm Browser: click here to install AVReporters Alarm Browser module. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished.
Under Additional Modules button you can find those modules that are not basically included in any of the Editions but can be added optionally: 4. Cost Allocation and Billing Module: click here to install AVReporters Cost Allocation and Billing Module. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. 5. AVRWEBPublisher: click here to install AVReporters WEBPublisher component. Keep pressing Next until the installation process starts. Click Close when it is finished. By clicking on the + button, you are able to customize the Webpublisher installation, by selecting the desired steps only. Important: IIS (Internet Information Services) is a requirement for WEBPublisher and needs to be installed before you launch the WEBPublisher installer. This can be done as follows: Windows 7: Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off. Locate Internet Information Services and check it as well as the following items: o Internet Information Services -> Web Management Tools -> IIS 6 Management Compatibility -> IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility o Internet Information Services -> World Wide Web Services -> Application Development Features -> ASP.NET Click OK.

Windows 8 or 8.1: Go to Start Screen, type "Control Panel", then select Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off. Locate Internet Information Services and check it as well as the following items: o Internet Information Services -> Web Management Tools -> IIS 6 Management Compatibility -> IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility o Internet Information Services -> World Wide Web Services -> Application Development Features -> ASP.NET o .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .net 2.0 and 3.0) -> Check both the "Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation" and "Windows Communication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation" Click OK.
Windows Server 2008 or 2012: Go to Start -> Server Manager -> Roles -> Add Roles. Select Web Server (IIS) and proceed. Check all the role services as well as their possible requirements and finish the wizard.
6. By pressing More Additional Modules further available optional add-on modules will show up.
