EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Hazardous Chemical. White solid. May cause eye irritation
with corneal injury. May cause skin irritation, even a burn.
Oral LD
50
is between 500 and 1000 mg/kg.
EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER: 800-992-5994
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS: This section includes
possible adverse effects, which could occur if this material
is not handled in the recommended manner.
EYE: May cause slight eye irritation. May cause slight
temporary corneal injury.
SKIN: Prolonged or repeated exposure may cause skin
irritation, even a burn. May cause more severe response if
skin is damp. Prolonged skin contact is unlikely to result in
absorption of harmful amounts. The dermal LD
50
has not
been determined. Has caused allergic skin reactions when
tested in guinea pigs.
INGESTION: Low toxicity if swallowed. The oral LD
50
for
rats is between 500 and 1000 mg/kg. Small amounts
swallowed incidental normal handling operations are not
likely to cause injury. Observations in animals include liver
and kidney effects.
INHALATION: Prolonged exposure is not expected to
cause adverse effects.
SYSTEMIC (OTHER TARGET ORGAN) EFFECTS:
In animals, effects have been reported on the following
organ: liver.
CANCER INFORMATION: No relevant information found.
TERATOLOGY (BIRTH DEFECTS): No relevant
information found.
REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS: No relevant information
found.
4. FIRST AID:
EYES: Flush eyes thoroughly with water for several
minutes. Remove contact lenses after initial 1-2 minutes
and continue flushing for several additional minutes. If
effects occur, consult a physician, preferably an
ophthalmologist.
SKIN: Remove material from skin immediately by washing
with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated
clothing and shoes while washing. Seek medical attention if
irritation persists. Wash clothing before reuse. Discard

INGESTION: If swallowed, seek medical attention. Do not
induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical
personnel.
INHALATION: Move person to fresh air; if effects occur,
consult a physician.
NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: If burn is present, treat as any

2-Chloro-5 trichloromethylpyridine (2-Tet): Dow
AgroSciences Industrial Hygiene Guide is 0.1 ppm.
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Provide general and/or local
exhaust ventilation to control airborne levels below the
exposure guidelines.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MANUFACTURING,
COMMERCIAL BLENDING, AND PACKAGING
WORKERS:
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Atmospheric levels should
be maintained below the exposure guideline.
SKIN PROTECTION: Use protective clothing chemically
resistant to this material. Selection of specific items such as
faceshield, gloves, boots, apron or full-body suit will depend
on operation. Remove contaminated clothing immediately,
wash skin area with soap and water, and launder clothing
before reuse or dispose of properly. Items, which cannot be
