Quiet Time Update . . . By Jim Dugan

Praise the Lord for the excitement that has been generated from the Word of Life Quiet Time daily de-
votional! We have been busy packing and shipping Quiet Times to Queensland, South Australia, Victo-
ria and New South Wales. Already there has been positive feedback from many young people and
adults who have begun their Quiet Time journey for 2008.
One youth pastor wrote, “I am so excited about this year’s Quiet Times. We will have about 55 people
in our church (from kids to youth to adults) reading the same passage of God's Word every day and
growing together...” (Badil-Crestwood Community Church). Tim, a professional athlete with the Par-
ramatta Eels, wrote, “Enjoyed my QT this morning; looking forward to growing up to be the man God
wants me to be this year.”
An exciting new tool we have this year is Life Steps, which are Bible studies based on the Word of Life
Quiet Time. There are 52 interactive studies based upon passages of Scripture from each week’s Quiet Time. It is great for
small groups, Sunday School groups or young adults! If you would like more information on our Quiet Times or Life Steps,
please give us a call or email.
Be praying for the many children, teens and adults who have begun their daily walk with the Lord using the Quiet Time.

Summer Camp Updates. . . By The Team

This is the third consecutive year that the leaders from Crestwood Community Baptist Church invited my family to be their
guest speaker for their youth camp. I had the privilege of speaking on the topic of “Legacy.” The challenge was to consider
the many heroes from Hebrews 11, to consider their examples and to imitate them. I thoroughly enjoyed the six sessions we
had in exploring practical principles for godly living.
We praise God for His Word and the impact it has in our lives. There is no greater joy than to experience the response of
young people when they realize that God has a wonderful plan for their lives today." Martin Garcia
I had a great time at the “Surf and Sand” camp at Scotts Head which is near Coffs Harbour. There
were over 40 junior campers and 12 teens from Gunnedah Baptist Church. Pastor Vince Wall has
been running this camp for the past eight years; the camp itself has been running for almost 30
years! Not only was I the speaker for the teens but also I assisted Pastor Vince with the pro-
gramme.
My theme for the teen Bible hour was “Know, Grow, Show.” It was exciting to teach them about
Knowing Jesus, Growing in the Lord and Showing the way to our lost friends. Many of the
campers attended the camp the last three years that I have been there. Seeing their growth in the
Teens at Scotts Head Camp Lord has been a great blessing.
Because of stormy weather, every beach in NSW closed, except one—Scotts Head! The Lord worked mightily at the camp.
Nine Junior camps accepted Christ as their Saviour! Pray for all who were at camp. Jim Dugan
Churches from Townsville and Cairns gathered together at Camp Tinaroo in North Queensland for “Curly’s Camp” an annual
camp that has been running for many years. Carl and Janice Lauridsen from Cairns are farmers who, with the help of others,
have been running the same week of camp every January for the past 32 years. It was considered a great success, as many
lives were impacted by the Word of God. The Bible theme for the week was “Being God’s Hero.” Teaching youth about Je-
sus and how He transforms us to be a hero for God is my passion and love. Things like the importance of biblical friendships,
impacting this world for Christ, the seriousness of sin, and the fact that youth are wonder-
fully made by God were taught from the Word. There were also devotionals led by lead-
ers, Quiet Times every day and great discussion groups.
In addition to having a great time of spiritual growth, the teens also had plenty of fun. One
of the highlights, as always at Camp Curly, was the watermelon and shaving cream fight.
The teens also played sports, swam at Lake Eacham and displayed their talent each night
by acting out their Bible memory verse. All in all, the youth built many memories, made
new friends and, most importantly, drew closer to God and to Christ. Rodney Trinidad Rodney at the Queensland’s Camp
