Growin Bag makes growing fresh


fruit easy and fun for all ages! In just a few
simple steps, you can have delicious
strawberries right in your own backyard.

Items You Will Need
Parks

Growin Bag
Potting soil such as Parks

Grow
Mix, Sta-Green

or Miracle-Gro


Duct Tape
Strawberry plants
Gardening shears
Small 3 pots
Watering can
Water soluble fertilizer such as
Algoflash for flowering plants or
Miracle-Gro


How to Set Up
the Bag
1. Moisten a quality potting soil such
as Parks

Grow Mix, Sta-Green

or
Miracle-Gro

.
2. Fill the bag to within 2 of the top,
pressing firmly to eliminate air
pockets.
3. Lay bag on a flat surface.
4. Fold the top over.
5. Secure with tape to keep soil from
spilling.
6. Set strawberry plants through the
precut T-slits.
7. Trim the roots to 4 or 5 if needed.
8. Water the bag thoroughly.
9. Store extra plants in the refrigerator
or a cool garage, or plant them in
small 3 pots.
How to Care for
Growing Plants
1. Allow one to two weeks for plants
to take root.
2. Hang Growin Bag in a sunny spot.
3. Unfold the top of the Growin Bag.
4. Add more potting soil in the top of
the bag.
5. Plant one or two more of the extra
plants in the top of the bag.
6. Water the bag every few days as
needed to keep the soil damp.
7. Punch extra holes with an ice pick in
the bottom and middle of the bag to
provide extra drainage as needed.
8. Use a water soluble fertilizer, such
as Algoflash for Flowering Plants or
Miracle-Gro

, according to the label


directions during the summer.
9. Remove all but two or three runners
per plant.
10. Use runners to replace the original
plants after one or two years.


How to Winterize
Your Growin Bag

The Growin Bag produces strawberries
during summer months, but you may keep
growin through winter if youre located in
USDA designated Plant Hardiness Zones 5-
9. Use the map below to determine your
zone.

Zones 5-7
1. Move plants to an indoor area
between 32-50
o
F.
2. Water the bag lightly as needed to
keep soil barely damp.
3. Move the bag outdoors in early
spring.
Zones 8-9
1. Keep the plants in a protected spot
that receives natural rainfall.
