PROJECT CRITERIA

PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to provide the project data and design criteria for
220 kV transmission lines of the electric supply for Antamina Project.

2.00

PROJECT DATA
The objective of the project is to provide electric supply to the Antamina Mine area
during the construction and the further operation of the Mining and Metallurgical
Complex.
The electric supply will be at 220 kV level from the new Vizcarra Substation to be
located along the existing Tingo Mara Paramonga Nueva transmission line. The
final point of the installations at 220 kV will be at the Antamina Substation, located
ay the mine site. The capacity of the transmission line will be 120 MW at 0,95
power factor.
The 220 kV electrical system has the following characteristics:

LINE ROUTE
The route will be according to the existing design included in the Basic Engineering
Study, with the changes to be approved by the Owner.
The Right of Way will be provided for Compaa Minera Antamina, including the
provisional road access for construction.

The minimum distances at the towers will be as follows.

according with the formula of VDE standards (0210/12,85).

page 8) and overhead ground wires with 0.913 gr./cm3 of density.

Clearance between conductors and overhead ground wires.


The minimum distance at the tower will be 7,25 meters. For the every day condition
with medium temperature, the overhead ground wire sag will be 80% of the
conductor sag.
On the other hand, under differential ice loading conditions, the minimum
separation in any direction between phase conductors and between phase
conductors and overhead ground wires will be checked.

5.03

The minimum distances will be used for the worst case with the maximum value of
the conductor sag.

OVERHEAD GROUND WIRES


The shielding protection will be suitable for all the discharge current greater or
equal to the corresponding insulation level of the transmission line. The design will
be checked according to the electromagnetic model. There will be two overhead
ground wires and the maximum angle of protection for overhead ground wire will
be according to the structure height as follows.

These values will be used for the suspension insulators string. For tension
string one additional unit will be used. Then, the insulator strings will be as

GROUNDING
The ground resistance value will be designed for the following values.

The structure for the transmission line will be self supported lattice type, suitable
for one three-phase circuit and two overhead ground wires. There will be three
types of structures:

Suspension
Tension (medium angle)
Tension (wide angle) and dead end

11.00 CALCULATION HYPOTHESIS FOR CONDUCTORS AND OVERHEAD


GROUND WIRES
11.01 Hypothesis
The calculations for the transmission line will carried out with the following
hypothesis.
First hypothesis
Every Day Stress (EDS) Condition at Medium Temperature. According with
project data, it is 10C without wind.
Second hypothesis
Maximum Wind Loading Condition at 15C. It will be assumed 70,54 kg/m wind
pressure on the conductors insulator string and overhead ground wires.
Third hypothesis
Wind and ice combined loading condition at 10C. It will use 19,40 kg/cm wind
pressure and 6,50 mm radial thickness of ice with 0,913 g/cm density.
Fourth hypothesis
Maximum design temperature of the Conductors and Overhead Ground Wires. It
will be for maximum temperature without wind. It is assumed 75 C as final
temperature for Conductors and 40C for the Overhead Ground Wires.
11.02 Insulator and Strings
For the maximum overloading condition the insulators string will be less than 30%
of the electrical and mechanical ultimate strength.

The design and calculation of the lattice structures will be for the loading
combinations in order to achieve the worst conditions. The loads to be included are
the following.

Construction maximum unbalanced loading during stringing including the


Vertical and Horizontal Loads
Operation for both Normal and Fault Condition
Maintenance to include the people on the structure

Normal Operation will be for all the temperature, wind and ice loading and
overloading conditions as indicated for the conductors and overhead ground wire.
The wind pressure will be 120 kg/m. It will be assumed either longitudinal or
transversal to the line axis. Faults Condition will be for broken cable either one
conductor or one ground wire. The seismic condition will be simulated with
fictitious wind loading.
The design of the Lattice Structure will carry out with the following safety factor.
For normal loading
For exceptional loading (fault condition)

13.00 FOUNDATIONS
There will be three types of foundations

Metallic Grid
Concrete
On the rock

According to geological study there will be a classification of the soil conditions for
each tower in order to apply the typical foundations.
