Academic Project Details

CLIENT SERVER BASED DATA Title ACQUISITION SYSTEM USING TCP/IP PROTOCOL

The main aim of this project is to develop a distributed system using Embedded technologies that can gather data from the places where manmaneuvering is not possible e.g. nuclear power plant and send it to the control module called client placed at a distance via data communication technologies like Internet, Ethernet, etc.

Objective

Fig.1. Schematic representation of Client Server model. Instruments interfaced with server (refer to fig. 1) continuously monitor the status of plant like change in temperature and send the report to the server. Server is an AVR based microcontroller equipped with real time operating system and high speed Ethernet controller with SPI interface to connect client (a computer equipped with standard software supporting TCP/IP protocol) with server. Server also contains dynamic web pages. Client can access the web pages of server using WWW constituents like web browser, HTTP, etc. and continuously monitor the status of plant. Now, if the temperature of plant exceeds the pre-specified level client can switch on the cooling system provisioned for with instruments module through dynamic web pages.

Technologies Used

Embedded domain is selected to design this system exploits Ethernet technologies for data communication between client and server. TCP/IP Protocol. 1. 2. 3. 4. AVR Studio. WinAVR. CVAVR. STK500
