In 2014, Bruce Allen is going to lead Adult RE from 9:45am to 10:40am on the first Sunday of each month in 2014. We will meet in our newly refurbished sofa room. We are going to start by using Marcus Borg's Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time to consider the meaning of the life of Jesus of Nazareth (as understood from Dr. Borg's perspective on the historical Jesus, rather than from the perspective of the Christ of faith from a traditional Christian perspective). Of course, the goal of this venture is to see how a fresh perspective on Jesus relates to and possibly enriches each of our unique UU faith journeys. If you have any questions, please email Bruce Allen at bruce.allen@uuwaco.org . Meals on Wheels: Every Wednesday and Friday. POC: Cheryl Foster, cheryl.foster@uuwaco.org

Social Action Opportunities:

Equality Texas Calls on UUFW to Assist Campaign for Equal Rights Non Discrimination Ordinance in Houston.
Soon the City of Houston City Council will be voting on a comprehensive Equal Rights Non Discrimination Ordinance. Equality Texas has asked us to help our neighbors in Houston by conducting a phone bank. We will be calling Houston residents who are associated with Equality Texas, asking them to contact their council member to request their support of this ordinance. For the last few years, Equality Texas has been a friend and great resource to UUFW. They have hosted an Equality Day Forum which was the impetus for our petition to the City of Waco last year. During this process, they spent many hours on the phone walking us through the process and providing support and information. We now have the opportunity to give back a little of what has so freely been given to us. We will be making calls on Saturday, May 3, 10am_2pm and Sunday, May 4, 1-4pm. If you are able, please come to UU any time during these hours and give us a hand.
