10 minutes I. Objectives: The children will develop motor control and balance through jumping onto a pretend fire truck. o Skill: P o Domain: PD o Element: Gross motor skills The children will develop hand strength and dexterity through pretending to hold a hose and pretending to pull on a cord. o Skill: P o Domain: PD o Element: fine motor skills The children will follow simple directions by participating in a music and movement experience. o Skill: SE o Domain: SED o Element: self-regulation The children will cooperate with others through participating in a large group experience. o Skill: SE o Domain: SED o Element: Social Relationships The children will use creative movement to express concepts and ideas through participating in a music and movement activity. o Skill: AL o Domain: CAE o Element: Creative movement and dance Date: September 29, 2013 Grade Level: Preschool

II. Materials: Poster of written out lyrics with pictures of the motions Community helpers tape

III. Procedure: A. Motivation I will ask the children what community helper we have been talking about this week. I will ask them if they know what the firemen do when they get a call to go to a fire. I will tell them we are going to do a song to help them know what the firemen have to do.

B. Steps 1. I will have the children come to the circle rug. 2. I will ask the children the above things. 3. I will read the song to them once and tell them what the pictures mean. 4. The children will stand up for the song. 5. The children will hold up ten fingers out in front of them on ten little firemen sleeping in a row 6. The children will pull a cord with one hand on dingdong goes the bell 7. The children will make fists, one on top of the other, and act like they are sliding down a pole on and down the pole they go 8. The children will jump then put their hands on a steering wheel and drive on jump on the fire truck- go, go, go! 9. The children will make a nozzle with fists and pretend to spray water on use the big hose just so, so, so. 10. The children will steer the truck again on when the fire goes out go home soooo slow. 11. The children will hold 10 fingers flat in front of them again on back to bed all ten in a row (I will show all the motions when we read through the song the first time, if needed I will do again a second time). 12. We will sing the song twice together.

IV. Conclusion: I will turn on the Community helpers tape and we will act like firemen. V. Transition: The children will move into free play driving like firemen.

VI. Follow-Up: 1. Have the children make a collage of fire station pictures cut out of a magazine. 2. Have them make their own fire truck. 3. Send home the song to the parents to sing with the children 4. Have a fire fighter come present to the class. 5. Take a trip to a fire station. VII. Evaluation/Assessment: 1. Were the children able to follow my verbal directions throughout the project? 2. Did the children understand what firemen do when they get a call? 3. Did the children respond to and verbally share responses with their peers?
