1.1 SeeGull LX USB Interface

Some new SeeGull LX receiver include a USB interface. SeeGull receivers with a USB interface embed an Edgeport from Digi. Products containing multiple SeeGull LX scanning receivers use virtual communication ports on a host PC to communicate with the scanning receivers. From an application standpoint, these virtual communication ports behave like regular communication ports when communicating with the scanner. The following is detailed information on installing drivers required to create communication ports. The host PC must be running Windows 2000, XP or Vista and should be connected to the SeeGull LX via the Universal Serial Bus (USB). For more detailed information as well as the latest manual and technical updates for the Edgeport driver, visit the following website: www.digi.com

1.2 Connecting Your SeeGull LX receiver

Plug the USB cable (with the Type A plug) into the USB port located on your PC. The latest version of Windows XP normally has the edgeport included. In this case Windows XP automatically installs the driver included with the operating system. Two com port numbers will be appear under Control panel system device manager. Each interface controls a different protocol (WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, EVDO). Application software may need to be configured with these port numbers. If the drivers are not already installed, you may proceed to the next section, Installing Edgeport Drivers.

1.3 Install/Update Edgeport Drivers

These installation instructions are for installing the Edgeport software from a CD. If you are installing from a diskette, and you are using Windows 2000, XP or Vista, you will be prompted for the location for the drivers. Enter a folder to which you want to download the drivers. You can now follow these instructions to complete the installation. Note: Replace <CD drive letter>: in the following instructions with the complete path of the folder to which you downloaded the drivers. 1. Plug in the Triband unit.

3. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), then click Next button.

Select specific directory in your CD Drive (instead of the drive shown in the figure) where the Edgeport driver is located (Browse: x:\EdgeportUSB\Edgeport Vendor Data\driver v4.50), then click Next button. 5. After the installation finishes, unplug the Triband unit, then plug the unit back in.

1.4 Verify/Set the port flags settings

1. Open Window Explorer and browse to the location where your Edgeport driver is installed (typically C:\Program Files\Edgeport Driver\) and double click on edgeport.exe 2. In general tab, click on the Port Flags button

4. If the Fast Reads/Fast Writes flags are not checked, then you can check them by clicking the radio buttons and click Update button 5. Save the setting when Exit from the edgeport properties window. 6. Unplug and plug in the Triband unit.
