MONDAY
Nevadas Earliest People handout for 25, colored pencils, ELMO ready
Students will learn about the Nevada seal and motto by reading a passage and participating in whole group discussions. Students will use the Symbols of Nevada handout to do so.
TUESDAY
H2.4.5 Explain the symbols, mottoes, and slogans related to Nevada (Battle Born, the state seal, and Silver State)
WEDNESDAY
Students will learn about the early H2.4.4 Identify the diverse population explorers and settlers of Nevada. Students will be using the quadrant method to look at old pictures of their school and clearly depict what they see in the photograph and understand how this relates to history. This lesson uses the Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies textbook Strategy 6 Personally Relevant History (p. 40-47).
THURSDAY
H3.4.1 Compare and/or contrast their daily lives with children in Nevadas past.

Students will be gathering qualitative data through interviews of seasoned teachers and communicating the data through group poster board H3.4.2 Recognize that communities presentations. Students will include people who have diverse understand how the interviews relate ethnic origins, customs, and traditions, to oral history and how schools and who make contributions to contribute to surrounding Nevada communities. This lesson uses the Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies textbook Strategy 2 Oral Histories in the Curriculum (p. 10-15).
FRIDAY
Print 25 copies of data sheet, have magazines for cut outs, 5 poster boards and coloring utensils
