Rules: No electronics (cell phones/Ipads/Ipods) in the classroom unless allowed by teacher for academic work Turn in assignments on time Respect the teacher, classmates & others Raise your hand to speak do not speak without permission No gossiping, bullying, fighting, or profanity Following safety regulations and respect for others on the bus Consequences: If cell phones are used in class or found then warning is given, the cell phone is taken and returned at the end of the day If assignments are late, there will be a 10% reduction per day that it is late Disrespecting others will result in a formal apology. Gossiping: the teacher will have the student research and write a short report on the damages of gossiping. If the student speaks out of turn, they will be reminded of the rule. This can be considered disrespecting others and similar consequences may follow if the disruption is in a negative way. Any bullying or fighting will directly result in being sent the office. Use of profanity will result in detention. Any misconduct on the bus, will result in the following disciplinary actions. Disciplinary actions: 1. First warning: verbal 2. Second warning: loss of privileges (sitting out of recess) 3. Third warning: write out an essay or be given extra assignments/drills 4. Fourth warning: referral to the office 5. Fifth warning: detention 6. Sixth warning: parent teacher conferences & discussion about behavior redirection 7. Seventh warning: in school suspension 8. Eighth warning: out of school suspension Team encourage strategies: Teachers work as a team to keep the same discipline across the grade and school so that there is no confusion to the students regarding rules/discipline. If all classes/homerooms have good behavior, which means no second level offenses, a reward goes to the room that gets it first. The reward will be decided by the teachers and can be donuts

or a pizza party (its up to the teachers of the winning classes). As an incentive the students will be handed out tickets for good behavior or good merit. For example, when a homeroom has perfect attendance each homeroom member will receive a ticket for that week. When students complete an assessment in the reading tutoring program and earns a score of mastered that student will receive a ticket. If a students shows kindness and reports a problem such as bullying to the teacher then that student will receive a ticket. Once the student fills out the ticket with their name on it the ticket is placed in the ticket bucket that is for their specific grade. At the end of the nine weeks tickets will be drawn for a variety of prizes such as a class pizza party, extra recess, and ice cream. Each week an attendance is counted and whoever has perfect attendance will receive a letter to place on their wall to complete a word. Generally, a work such as homework or the schools mascot would be chosen for this purpose. The first homeroom who finishes the word wins. That homeroom will have a pizza lunch with their teacher. Tickets are used as positive encouragement for all students so that excellent behavior is the norm. School spirit, pride in students work and community involvement is the most important factor to make this system work. Team procedures: Teachers write out how the classroom is to be conducted and how discipline is distributed Turning in assignments and not asking for extensions Disrupting the classroom No running or loitering in the hallway Extra tutoring sessions will be available for those who need it or want it Absentes- three unexcused result in a detention Bathroom time-two bathroom passes per class per week Dress code-no saggy pants, no low-cut shirts, skirts & shorts are at fingertip length, no shirts that expose the shoulder Late homework will result in a 10% deduction per day that it is late. Make up tests are to be done as soon as possible(within a few days of the missed test)

School Community plan Parents and family of students are encouraged to become involved in all school activities. Sporting Events: Tickets will be on sale in the office the week before and can also be bought at the event. Parents are welcome to come watch and support our teams. Field Trips: Parents can request to come along with us on any field trip their child is involved in. We can use the extra help, and it should be an interesting and fun experience for them as well. Decoration/Clean-Up: Before special activities going on in the school, parents are welcome to come to the school and sign up to put up decorations, signs, and pictures to help the school prepare. The day after the event, decorations must be taken down and the school will be cleaned up. We would appreciate the help. Award Ceremonies: At the end of every grading period, a schoolwide award ceremony will be held in the gym for grades, attendance, athletics, and even school spirit. We encourage you to come cheer on your children at the ceremonies. Fundraisers: The school will be holding parties, dinners, sales, and competitions to help fund our school. We encourage all families to attend or to help out. Information on the fundraisers will be sent home and also posted on the schools website, so be sure to check often. Parents are also welcome in the school anytime they would like to talk with their childs teachers, coaches, or principal. Please call to schedule an appointment. Being involved in school activities will help parents to feel that they are more a part of their childrens school and education. It is also a very good social opportunity for you to meet and talk to teachers or other parents in the school. Discipline should be rooted in one or more of the theorists Our discipline is rooted in the Fred Jones Positive Classroom Discipline model. This theory encourages teachers to set a clear list of rules that they expect the students to follow. If these rules are not followed, disciplinary actions may occur. For example, the teachers may begin with a verbal warning as soon as a negative behavior arises, so that the student knows that the behavior will not be tolerated. If negative behavior persists over time and the student has faced many of the consequences and the behavior has not improved, something as serious a detention may be the next step.
