The word Okinawa () consists of 2 Kanji characters in Japanese: Oki and Nawa ( is Oki and is Nawa ). Oki means sea or water ( ). Nawa means rope ( ). Okinawans do not refer to their own island as the island of pork. Thus< if you see any person attempt to post that phrase< that person is either not wittin$ly postin$ the truth< or< the indi/idual knows it is incorrect and is en$a$ed in the promotion of willful health fraud. The claim that Okinawa means The island of )ork is in/alidated. Here's what's going on: There is a lot of interest in what diet is the healthiest diet and which diet leads to the greatest longevity and lifespan. It turns out that according to the actual scientific data, the Okinawans who lived the longest are eating a plant-based diet, nearly entirely vegetarian. This is NOT talking about ALL Okinawans. The purpose is not to describe the diet of everyone in Okinawa--including those who died sooner, and ended up dead. One is not focused on the diet of the whole island population including those who eat things that landed them in the grave. The focus is to scientifically study only the ones who are 100+ years old, and see what they were eating. In other words, there can be other people in Okinawa who eat larger amounts of pork, and lard. But those individuals did not live as long. They were less likely to live to be centenarians. The ones who ate the least amounts of pork and lard were found in scientific studies to be living the longest and lived to become centenarians. After hearing that the diet of some of the healthiest and longest lived people in the world were more likely to be nearly vegetarian and mainly plant-based, those who did not like the insinuation that meat was bad and leads to shorter lifespans were in need of a way to say that saturated fat, pork, and meat were healthy again. Thus came the false posting that Okinawans ate so much pork that the meaning of Okinawa itself meant "The Island of Pork", a scam and fraudulent claim concocted in order to promote more meat-based diets and pork products. The individuals found participating in the Okinawa diet pork scam were often those involved in the promotion of low-carb, atkins, Weston A. Price Foundation foods, and the paleo caveman diet. The non-scientific "Island of Pork" scam is mainly traced to these individuals. Often those who are selling diet plans, fitness schemes, recipes, and diet-books. As usual, every scam contains and is based on a germ of truth. In this case, it is the case that there is indeed pork sold and eaten in Okinawa. This is what the claim is based upon. But what you aren't told, is that those that live the longest are avoiding eating pork, avoiding meat, avoiding the lard and saturated fat, and eating mainly plants. Although the studies show that there is some eaten, it is in exceedingly minuscule amounts. So the fact that there exists some pork eaten in Okinawa, plus the fact that the centenarians were found to occasionally eat a tiny amount, is then used by the mainly low-carb and paleo meat-based bloggers who exploit this and over-inflate the volumes of pork and lard and make it the appearance that not only the average Okinawans, but also the centenarians are gorging on huge significant amounts of pork and lard and saturated fats and erroneously spreading the impression that this is the entire key to their longevity when the actual scientific measurements found that it is not. So first of all, the centenarians do not eat the same as other average okinawans who ate more meat and pork and ended up dead. Secondly, the Okinawans who lived the longest were eating the least pork, barely 1% of their diet was found to be pork, and 99% of their diet was Not pork. If you were to believe the paleo low-carb bloggers traced to the Island of Pork hoax, they'd have you believing that the Okinawan centenarians were eating 99% of their diet as pork and only 1% plants--and that is not true. It is an astonishingly tiny quantity of pork that is being exploited by the hoaxers and magnified into making the public believe that the centenarians are eating loads of pork every day. This is not scientifically found to be the case. The scammers, often traced to lowcarb and paleo caveman blogs, are attempting to utilize hear-say, old wives tales, and something practices by the general population and reported on lay-person's blog sites in order to make people believe something which is not correct and not based on science. This is the basis of the Island of Pork scam. Look, think of it this way: It is the case that there are also people in the United States of America who live long. One such cluster of centenarians is in a Blue Zone located in California in the USA. It is centered around the city of Loma Linda. These individuals who live tremendously long life-spans are also mainly vegetarian. They are members of the Seventh Day Adventist church which happened to have as one of their beliefs that you should follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. And alas, they turned up living astonishly long lives. Over a whopping 100+ years old. Now, given this information, here is what the hoaxers are doing in the Okinawa Pork Diet scam. Well, it so happens, that a huge saying in America is that there is nothing more American than Hot Dogs, Baseball and Apple Pie. Well, there you have it. It must then be that since this is such a well-known saying in the US, that everybody is living well up over 100+ years old by eating pieces of sausage followed by dessert! Of course, because if the USA has a huge number of Americans...and hot dogs and wieners are so popular, that eating wieners are even said to be what it means to BE American...well, naturally that means that these centenarians must attribute their long lives to wieners and dessert. Has to be true, right? But wait, let's substantiate that with some "proof". Ok, the centenarians in the USA were clustered in "California" right? Just like the centenarians in Japan were clustered on the whole island of Okinawa. So it must be the case (according to what the lowcarb/paleo diet scammers would compel you to believe) that just about everyone on Okinawa has a long life so just look at what the whole island population eats. Just like if we want to find out the secret to all these US centenarians clustered in california, all we need to do is just take a look at what they eat in "California". Oh, well let's look up a search of some blogs on the internet... Lo & behold here is a market in California selling hot dogs! And here is a picture of a hot dog cart on the street in Hollywood California. And here is a MacDonald's and a Burger King and a Kentucky Fried chicken place. So voila! That proves it, there's even photos of Californians eating tons of hot dogs, even sold at stadiums during baseball games, and you can see many many Americans in California eating loads of desserts and wieners, and California has a hotspot of centenarians...so by gosh that clinches it, it's proof that to be American is to eat Hot Dogs and Apple pie, and the centenarians were found living in California, and here we have photos

and blogs and all kinds of pictures of Californian people eating hot dogs, wieners, and fast food. That is proof that to live to 100 you need to eat fast food, wieners, and dessert! Right? --NO. This is not what is happening. If you look closer, you find that it's not ALL Americans, and it's not ALL Californians who are living a long time. It's a group of people who happen to be in California but they are vegetarians. They are the ones NOT eating hot dogs and wieners and burgers. That is who is living a long time in California. It is a hotspot in Loma Linda California which is a Blue Zone and it turns out they all belong to a church where they are vegetarian. It's the vegetarians who happen to have the longer lifespans. Despite what everyone else is doing in California, and even despite the fact that they are americans and there exists a phrase that even says to be American is to eat HotDogs and Apple Pie. This turns out to be irrelevant and all based on hear-say. It is the same situation going on with the bogus low-carb paleo diet bloggers and the Okinawa pork diet claims. The island of Okinawa is like the state of California in this example. And even though you CAN find pictures of travel photos of some individuals ingesting pork that reside somewhere on the island of Okinawa, and even though they are coining a phrase calling Okinawa's tradition the Island of Pork, this does NOT mean that those who are living the longest are eating loads of pork. In fact, it's the opposite. It turns out when measured scientifically, it was those individual Okinawans who ate 98% vegetarian, a mainly plant-based diet, and practically eliminated the quantities of pork such that it was barely 1%, and such that the saturated fats of the pork were all either cut off, thrown out, or boiled for hours such that it boiled away, that were living longest. The situation is that although there may be people on Okinawa existing, that are eating higher quantities of pork, the people who ate the most pork are not the ones making it to 100. It was found that the ones who ate the least pork became the centenarians.

OKINAWAN CENTENARIANS DO NOT EAT A DIET BASED ON A LOT OF PORK.


It is not true that the Okinawans who lived the longest, dined on a lot of pork. The okinawan centenarians in fact avoid meat, and eat so low-fat that it is one of the lowest fat diets on earth. An average diet may have 30% fat. A paleo may have 40% fat. And a low-carber may go up to 70% fat. The Okinawan centenarians are eating a lowfat diet of barely 6% fat. This shoots down any assertions that the Okinawan centenarians are owing their great health to a diet rich in saturated fats and lard. In fact, quite the contrary they are avoiding it. And it is not pork. Data shows that 99% of the Okinawan diet is NOT PORK.

THE OKINAWAN CENTENARIANS DO NOT EAT A DIET BASED ON A LOT OF FISH.


Did you believe that "The Japanese eat a lot of fish" or since Okinawa is in Japan so the Okinawan diet must contain huge amounts of fish? If you thought that the Okinawan diet was rich in fish you would be wrong. The Okinawan centenarians' diet is NOT including a lot of fish. Not fatty fish. Not wild caught salmon fish. Not much of any fish. Not appreciable amounts of sashimi or sushi. 99% of the Japanese Okinawan diet is NOT FISH. It is Not true that the Japanese Okinawans eat a lot of fish. Japanese people avoiding eating fish: Yes. And living longer by avoiding eating fish: Yes. Living up over 100+ years NOT eating significan amounts of fish: correct. Fish is less than 1% of the centenarians diet. The Okinawan centenarians are not eating loads of fish. They are eating mainly plants.

The Okinawan Centenarians are eating a Diet that is 98% Vegetarian and 96% Vegan.
The Okinawans who lived to be centenarians up over 100+ years of age were eating a 98% Vegetarian plant-based diet. 96% vegan diet. Nearly 70% of which was potatoes, okinawan purple sweet potatoes which contain starches. Rice which is a starch. Grains and wheat, large amounts of Soy, and Tofu, Vegetables, and fruit, and ingested PUFA oils and even a quantity of refined carbohydrates in the form of sugar (composed of both glucose and fructose), and are among the healthiest longest-lived people on earth and are one of the Blue-Zones of longevity. This may be classified actually as an ANTI-PALEO DIET, due to the fact that it consists of grains, including wheat, encourages beans and legumes, is mainly vegetarian, encourages rice, contains hardly any fish, and hardly any bacon or pork, and avoids meat. It is almost the opposite of a paleo diet. This mainly vegetarian plant-based diet results in some of the longest lifespans on the planet. Those Okinawans who avoided meat, avoided fish, avoided dairy, and avoided eating pork such that all of these items were less than barely 1% of their diet, lived the longest. The Okinawan centenarian diet is 85% carbs, 09% protein, and 06% fat. This is a High-Carb, Low-Fat, Low-Protein diet: HC-LF-LP. HCLF. This is NOT a lowcarb diet. This is Not a highprotein diet. Those people who ingested a lowcarb or high protein diet died sooner and had more disease. The diet that matches most closely to this longest-lifespan diet, is an 80-10-10 plant-based diet. The Okinawan diet is 98% vegetarian, which includes the eggs and dairy. The Okinawan diet is 96% vegan, which excludes the eggs and dairy.
