[L.2.1] Specific Objectives: Students should be able to identify and read the multisyllabic words with the suffixes ly, -ful, -er, and -or and use them in writing. Students should be able to identify and use personal pronouns. Students should be able to identify the main idea and supporting details in a text. Required Materials: Computer and Promethean ActivBoard with Internet access o Reading Street daily flipcharts for Firefighters Step-by-Step Procedures: Each day, use the appropriate interactive flipchart to go over this weeks skills. o Student pairs will come to the rug and echo read this weeks spelling words. Discuss the spelling pattern ( -ly, -ful, -er, and -or). Discuss this weeks vocabulary words and their meanings. Discuss this weeks amazing words and their meanings. Discuss this weeks comprehension skill of identifying main idea and supporting details. Review each day. o Vary use of peanut butter and jelly partners, pancake and syrup partners, and brain boards to review and practice word lists and phonics, grammar, and comprehension skills. o Each day, students will complete a word work workbook page using this weeks spelling and vocabulary words. Assessment Based on Objectives: Students daily station and seatwork evidence will be used to determine if intervention is needed. Adaptations/Accommodations: Teacher may determine if students should sort fewer words or write fewer sentences. Also, teacher may decide if students need sentence prompts or guided sentences. Notes/Reflections: This class has very short whole group reading lessons each day to make time for more differentiated and skills-based stations and table groups. These whole group lessons are short introductions/reviews of the skills and word lists for the week before students break off into stations, seatwork, and table group activities.

[RF.2.3] o Decode words with common prefixes and suffixes. [RF.2.3d] Specific Objectives: Students should be able to identify and read the multisyllabic words with the suffixes ly, -ful, -er, and -or and use them in writing. Required Materials: Promethean ActiveBoard o Suffixes flipchart Suffixes Evidence Sheets Step-by-Step Procedures: Student pairs will work through the Suffixes flipchart and fill in their suffix word sort and the word/suffix matching results on the Suffixes Evidence Sheets. After completing the Station work, students will use the Promethean ActiveBoard to play Spelling City games with this weeks spelling words. Assessment Based on Objectives: Students Suffix Evidence Sheets will be used to determine if intervention is needed. Adaptations/Accommodations: Teacher may determine if students should sort fewer words. Extensions: This station can enhance phonics lessons and small group fluency lessons. Notes/Reflections: This is one of three stations in which students will rotate during this week. This is the phonics skill for the week, and this station in combination with one days seatwork activity and the table group work will enhance use of these particular suffixes.

Required Materials: Two copies of Community Helpers leveled reader Main idea/supporting details workbook page iPads o Comprehension story app Step-by-Step Procedures: Student pairs will read the leveled reader Community Helpers After reading the story, each student will complete the main idea/supporting details workbook page for Community Helpers. After completing the Station work, students will play the comprehension story app on classroom iPads by reading passages and answering comprehension questions in the app. Assessment Based on Objectives: Students main idea/supporting details comprehension sheet will be used to determine if intervention is needed. Adaptations/Accommodations: Teacher may determine if students should complete a paper version of the quiz. Extensions: This station can enhance lessons on identifying main idea and supporting details. Notes/Reflections: This is one of three stations in which students will rotate during this week. This is the comprehension skill for the week, and this station in combination with one days seatwork activity and the table group work will enhance use of this particular skill.

Required Materials: Pronoun sentence cards Computer with Internet access o Balloon Pronoun Game http://www.softschools.com/language_arts/grammar/pronoun/balloon_ga me/ o Traveling Pronouns Game http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/pronouns/play/ *Students will need pencils and their evidence notebooks Step-by-Step Procedures: Student pairs will read the pronoun sentence cards and answer the questions on each card in their evidence notebooks. o Questions involve finding the pronoun in each sentence. After completing the Station work, students will play The Balloon Pronoun Game and the Traveling Pronouns Game on the classroom computers. Assessment Based on Objectives: Students Identify Adverbs Sheet responses will be used to determine if intervention is needed. Adaptations/Accommodations: Teacher may determine if students should answer fewer questions. Extensions: This station can enhance lessons on identifying and using different types of pronouns. Notes/Reflections: This is one of three stations in which students will rotate during this week. This is the grammar skill for the week, and this station in combination with one days seatwork activity and the table group work will enhance use of this particular skill.

There will not be any Day 4 or Day 5 small groups this week due to the field trip and the Valentines party.

The student in this class who returns in the middle of the reading block completes the small/table group portion of reading in the special education resource room each day. Her seatwork in the classroom will be spelling tracing sheets of this week's vocabulary words. Her station activities with be the letter matching work box and the letter identifying and matching iPad games.
