Reason #8 to Go Back to College: To Find Your Valentine A Place in the Sun Hope Will Never Be Silent
Author: Iviv Samson Getting in the right mood to study is a common problem for students. But you have to do it, because failing to study, review, or prepare for a class can have grave consequences, such as low grades, failed classes, and not graduating. It is important for students to find a way to get in the mood to study. Here are 8 tips that can help you get in the mood to study: 1. E liminate distractions. Distractions are everywhere and sometimes its hard to avoid them. Designate a specific place to study. Make the area organized, well lit, and quiet. If you are surrounded by people who are engaged in different activities that are distracting, go to the library where it is more conducive for studying. 2. D ont procrastinate . Dont put off studying. Last minute studying will create extra work for you. Procrastinating will force you to cram at the last minute, which causes anxiety and stress. 3. S tudy right after class. A good way to get in the mood to study is to review, re-write your notes, and do your assignment right after class while it is still fresh in your mind. It is also a good idea to read the next chapter so you will be ready. Write down questions while you read and make a reminder for yourself so you will not forget to ask your professor your questions during the next class. 4. M entally prepare yourself. Create a mental note that lists the things that you need to do and prioritize your list. Remind yourself that after you have done your academic responsibilities, you can relax and have time for socializing. 5. M ake it a habit. Schedule a study time and include it in your daily routine like eating and sleeping. Try to set aside a certain amount of time every day at the same time to study. When you create a habit of studying, it will be much easier to get in the mood to study, and you will be less stressed come exam time. 6. F ind the motivation. Motivation is a good driver to put you in the right mood to open those books. Think of the reward of getting an education and get a better job. Look forward to relaxing with your family after the exams are over. Whatever your motivation is, use it to help you get in the mood to study. 7. Take a moment to relax. Find a healthy way to recharge your mind and body after a long day of work and studying. Take the dog for a quick walk around the block or get fresh air at the park. Taking a catnap can bring a surge of renewed energy. 8. F ocus on your goal. Always remind yourself of the reasons why you returned to college in the first place. Focusing on your goal will surely give you the boost to get in the mood to study.

Karen FEB 12, 2013 2:34:50 PM Ironically enough I need to have some noise in the backgroung....Music helps me stay awake. As interesting as the reading might be I still get sleepy when reading, so music helps me stay in the mood and I'm actually able to concentrate more. Also, sometimes I read it like I'm telling a story to myself to make it more interesting

Tyrone from Santa Monica, CA FEB 12, 2013 8:48:12 AM Take it from someone who is never in the mood to study, #2 and #5 are essential. If I don't set aside time to study then I don't study, period. I have just too much going on in my life to simply study by accident. I make time to study and I am much less stressed when I don't wait until the last minute.
