This topic describes how to install color rings for the antenna system.
Step 1 Decide where to attach the color rings. For a tower-mounted base station, the color rings are attached at the following positions: On the jumper that connects to the antenna, attach a color ring 200 mm [0.66 ft] away from the feeder connector. On the feeder that is outside the equipment room, attach a color ring 200 mm [0.66 ft] away from the feeder connector. On the feeder that is led down from the tower platform, attach a color ring 1 m [3.28 ft] away from the feeder connector. On the feeder that is outside the feeder window, attach a color ring 1 m [3.28 ft] away from the feeder window. On the feeder that is inside the equipment room, attach a color ring 200 mm [0.66 ft] away from the feeder connector. On the jumper that connects to the cabinet, attach a color ring 200 mm [0.66 ft] away from the feeder connector.
CAUTION
For the color rings for the feeder that is led down from the tower platform and the feeder that is outside the feeder window, the specific locations can be determined only after the cable routing is complete. Figure 22-1 shows the locations of the color rings.

NOTE
Generally, you can attach the color rings by referring to Figure 22-1. In actual situations, you can adjust the locations of the color rings as required.
l l l l
On the jumpers connected to the tower mounted amplifier (TMA), attach color rings 200 mm [7.87 in.] away from the input end and the output end respectively. If the base station is not installed on a tower platform, the feeder is not led down from the tower platform, and associated color rings are not required. If the cabinet is installed outdoors, the feeder is not led into the equipment room, and associated color rings are not required. If multiple systems share an antenna system, only color rings for system 1 are required.
After you determine the positions of the color rings, choose appropriate color rings by referring to Color Rings for the Antenna System. When you attach the color rings, wrap the feeder/jumper using color rings by two or three layers. Ensure that each layer covers the previous layer completely and tightly and the rings are attached in an orderly and neat manner, as shown in Figure 22-2. Figure 22-2 Attaching color rings
NOTE
l l
Between two adjacent color rings, there should be a space of 10 mm [0.394 in.] to 15 mm [0.591 in.]. In an RF channel, all the color rings must be attached in consistency.
