Best HR Ideas for 2009A Call for Nominations Deadline for Submissions: Dec.

19, 2008 Whether the economy is soaring or plummeting, innovation should always be a high priority for HR departments. Indeed, some might argue HR innovation is especially crucial when the times are most challenging. Heres a chance for you and your HR department to receive deserved recognition for some of the exceptional programs and initiatives youve launched in 2008. In the March 2 edition, the editors of Human Resource Executive would like to recognize the Best HR Ideas of the previous year. By identifying and featuring those ideas in the pages of HRE, we hope to present our audience with best HR practices they might want to consider as they attempt to address their own challenges. The ideas will be divided into following categories: Talent Management, Employee Benefits (including healthcare, retirement and other benefits), Training and Development, Relocation, HR Technology and Other. At least five practices will be selected for each of these categories and detailed in the March 2 issue. Examples of Best HR Ideas could be a creative program for retaining top talent, a training initiative for developing the next generation of business leaders or a new, innovative approach to healthcare-cost containment. To be considered, the program or initiative needs to have been officially launched between Jan. 2, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2008. In addition, HR needs to have been the principal driver of the program or initiative, though it certainly could involve other parties, including other departments and outside contributors (such as vendors and consultants). Companies are welcome to submit multiple nominations. The editors of HRE will review the submissions and arrive at a final list of winning ideas.
