BNAI DAVID CEMETERY CARE AND PRESERVATION PROJECT SUNDAY, APRIL 27 - 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CSZ adults and teens are invited to participate in a community-wide clean up effort of the Bnai David Cemetery in Detroit. The cemetery is located at 9535 Van Dyke Road, Detroit, 48213, North of I-94 near Detroit City Airport. For those who prefer not to drive on their own, busses will leave from Congregation Shaarey Zedek at 10:00 a.m. The cemetery held burial services 1898-2009, and contains approximately 1,200 gravesites on land where the Bnai David synagogue no longer stands. Those who wish to participate in the site cleanup effort can register and/or reserve a space on a bus at http://goo.gl/OueRZJ. This annual event recognizes those 80 years of age and older who have demonstrated a dedication throughout their lifetimes to the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam. TRAVEL SIZE TOILETRIES NEEDED Heart 2 Hart Detroit provides and distributes food, clothing, toiletries and helpful information to men and women living on the streets or in shelters in the Detroit Metropolitan area. Donations of travel size personal items are in demand, and will be accepted at collection bins in the Synagogues main lobby and in the lobby of the administrative offices.
