PIPESIZE SpecCodemaybeanyalphanumericstring.ItisusuallyadesignationusedonP&IDsandother documentsthatreferencesacompletepipespecification.TheSpecCodesmustbesorted alphabetically.Rowsmaybeinsertedintothetableifmorecodesareneeded. Descriptionisplainlanguagetodescribethepipespecification.Itisusedontheprinteddata sheet. TemperaturelimitsareenteredindegreesFahrenheit.Thesearetheminimumandmaximum temperaturesallowedforthepipeclass,oftendeterminedbycomponentsinyourpipingsystem suchasgasketsandvalves.Ifthefluidtemperatureisoutsidetherangedefinedbytheselimitsa warningmessageisprintedonthedatasheet. PIPESIZE Thissubroutinecalculatestheoutsideheattransfercoefficient.Thisisaniterativecalculation thatalsodeterminestheheatflux(W/m2),surfacetemperature(C),andoverallheattransfer coefficient(W/m2K).Thefunctionreturnsanyoneofthosevaluesinaccordancewiththefirst parameterintheFunctioncall(Calc). Thecalculationmakesanassumptionforsurfacetemperatureandusesthattocalculatea Reynoldsnumberfortheforcedconvectioncase(windpresent)andfromthattheNusselt numberandoutsideheattransfercoefficient.Ifthewindislessthan0.5m/s,theprogram calculatesthenowindconvectioncaseandcomparesittotheforcedconvectionresult, choosingthehigherofthetwoanswers.Fromthisresult,theoverallheattransfercoefficientis calculatedwhichisusedtocomputethesurfacetemperatureofthepipe(orinsulation).Then, radiationlossesarecalculated,addedtotheoverallcoefficient,andarevisedsurface temperaturecalculated.Thisbecomestheassumedvalueofthesurfacetemperatureandthe entiresetofcalculationsisrepeateduntilthecalculatedsurfacetemperatureequalsthe assumedvalue.
