Our new Bible Studies at the home of the ZANA family in GUGULETU are making good progress with about 10 students in attendance. The subject of our lessons is THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IN THE BIBLE. Last night we began a two-part study on the subject: "Who is the true child of God?" a study of ROMANS 1 and 2, and 1st JOHN 2. I am
using typewritten notes and one of the students is taping the lessons.
A new set of slides is being prepared showing scenes of Cape Town, and the nature of the work here. It will be circulated among those who support us so as to "put you in the picture" as far as your missionary dollars are concerned.

The new Parliament, which includes Coloureds and Indians, is already making progress
towards the dismantling of apartheid. Recent unrest at Crossroads was caused
by many not wanting to move into the small houses at Kyalitsha, but the government
has already relented, and is meeting with community leaders in aneffort to reach an equitable solution to the "squatter" problem. On one of my trips into Crossroads
I saw a lot of burnt branches, bricks and stones in the roads.
Brother Matutu, the minister there, is suffering from acute pain in the eye. Please remember him and his family in your prayers. His son, David, is completing his studies at the
We extend our deepest sympathy to Marjorie Marbach on the loss of her father, and also ask your continued prayers for Bryce Morgan who is still under doctor's care.

God's Spirit is moving in our world, and reaching into the hearts of men. He challenges us to a life of total conunitment to His will, calling us from our land

It has been roy privilege to bring messages at the new church in the Bishop
Lavis township which is now meeting in a school building, and also to see
several of them baptized in Princess Vlei, an inland lake on the Cape Peninsula.
I spoke to them about their new life in Christ, and encouraged them to grow in
the faith which had brought them to Christ. I have taken some slides of the baptisms, and will be including them in the set to send over to you which is now
nearly complete.
Last Wednesday our usual study at the Zana home in Guguletu was moved to the home
of "Aunt Lena" who was celebrating her 57th birthday. Some of the brethren
We have recently made some visits to Groote Schuur Hospital to visit some folk who
were ill. A cousin of Brother Dunjua passed away there, and we visited the home in Kraaifontein to bring a message of comfort and encouragement to the family. .
Last Lord's Day we made a trip to Ashton together with Brothers Dunjua and Matutu.
Our journey carried us through Stellenbosch, over the mountains via Du Toit's Kloof, through Worcester and the Hex River valley, and then through the little
village of Robertson on to the De Wet farm. After a short visit in the home we went to their new building for the worship service which was attended by folk from the whole area. I brought a message on "CHRISTIAN UNITY," and Brother James led in
the Communion Meditation. 2 came forward to accept Christ as Savior. Brother
Maase the local minister is arranging their baptism. After a svimtuous lunch in the traditional farm manner we journeyed home via the southern route through the Bree River valley, Villiersdorp and Viljoeri's pass; then via the Nuweberg mountains, on through the apple orchards of Grabouw-, and finally on to the Steenbras river,
over Sir Lowry's Pass and on down to Somerset West.
Lord willing we shall be making an extended trip each month to surrounding areas, such as Laingsburg, Beaufort West, Mbekweni, George, Orchard, Knysna, Bonnievale.
At our lunch-time studies at the Farmers Co6p we are now meUcing summary studies of
each book of the Bible, and are presently on H SAMUEL, while at home I am preparing an Afrikaans trcinslation of my study on "THEOLOGIANS OF OUR TIME."
At Uitsig last Monday I brought a lesson on the Book of JOB, while Brother Dunjua
visited at the Mailie home in Ravensmead. I also brought a short message and prayer there on ny return. Brother Mailie now has a security job at the Capetonian
This morning I brought a message on "THE LOVE OF GOD" at Guguletu, and led in the Communion Meditation (1 John3). Later at tlie Ntobi home in Bishop Lavis I brought a message on "THE BRAZEN SERPENT'.' Brother Ntobi did visit his family last week,
but is now living and working in Herman\is.

A huge new township is going up on the outskirts of Cape Town, called KYALITSHA; (New home); and with it a new door is opening for the proclamation of the precious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray with us that the gospel may go out there with great power and conviction to the honor and glory of His name.

Thanks once again for your prayers and support for the outreach of the gospel in
these difficult and critical days for South Africa. A set of slides has been sent out and we hope to follow this with another set in the near future.
while
Lunch-time Bible lessons at the Farmer's Co-op this past week centered on the
book of JEREMIAH, as we continued our outline studies of Bible Books.
I visited our church at MFULENI one Sunday, and brought a Communion Meditation
there. I also had a chat with Brother David Matutu who is now living in the
church building to protect i t from the rioters. He is willing to translate my Bible lessons into XHOSA, and will be starting soon. At the moment I am busy preparing a set of studies from J.S. Baxter's "EXPLORE THE BOOK." MITCHELL'S PLAIN has been the scene of burning barricades in the streets, stoning of traffic lights, and police intervention with casualties on both sides. One of the young men who died was a relative of Brother James Dunjua. I went to visit the family during the week and brought a message at>;the funeral on Saturday.
We have also made some visits to the hospitals in the Peninsula to bring scripture, messages and have prayers to some known to us.
Timothy and I are planning. Lord willing, to attend our annual Christian Convention which is scheduled for Port Elizabeth later this month. The theme for this year's
convention is': "LET US ARISE AND BUILD."
We praise the Lord for three more who are to be baptized from the GUGULETU and BISHOP LAVIS areas. Because of the unrest the Brethren at Guguletu have warned me not to come into Guguletu at this time. This is to protect both me and them
closed to the church meeting there and they will be meeting with the GUGULETU congregation at the home of Brother Matutu for the time being. Please pray for them
While visiting a hospital in Manenberg we were told that rioters had stoned a Pepsi-Cola delivery truck, chased away the driver, and looted and burned the truck just across from the hospital. On our way home the side of the road which we had just come up was blocked by burning tyres. A minister known to us was arrested while attempting to calm down the marchers- to Pollsmoor prison
here in Cape Town. Riots and burnings broke out in the suburb of Retreat last week, and there are hints of more trouble to come.
What must our stand be in times like these? For our part we are convinced that all of this is part of a much larger struggle that between Christ and the Devil. Paul says, "W^e wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the forces of spiritual wickedness in high places." Therefore it is our task to strongly defend and proclaim the faith once and for all delivered to God'speople, and to stand firm in the face of every onslaught of the evil one. We plead with you, brethren, to stand behind us in this. Fulfil your task as Prayer warriors with us here in the spirit. For the battle is not ours- alone; i t is yours as well, and ultimately it is the Lord's. Through. Him we have the
assurance of victory.

I thank the Lord for each of you; for your faith and trust in Him, and your dedication to the proclamation of the gospel around the world. My special thanks
goes to Bryce and Judy Morgan who are serving so faithfully as forwarding agents.
Please continue praying for Bryce who is still suffering with ill health.
God has given to Timothy and me the privilege of attending our Convention held in Port Elizabeth this year. Timothy brought a message on the Holy Spirit, and I brought some outline studies on the Bible, with leasons printed in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. It was our joy to visit several of the brethren in the Gelvandale area on Sunday afternoon, and at the evening service there I preached
on "CHRISTIAN UNITY" Then, after the service, two of the brethren David Draai
and Brother Bosman who had not been speaking to each other, came together and
shook hands. I praise God because this will greatly help the chiirches in that area. Please join me in praying for them as well. The brethren have^ also asked
me to come back for a series of meetings next year.
Upon my return I made a visit to MFULENI first to the home of Brother Nokwana, and then to the church. Brother Miles Koeberg brought the Communion Meditation and I led in prayer. We had plans for visiting the MlffiKWENI township- near Paarl
yesterday, but they had to be shelved due to rioting there and the STATE OF EMERGENCY which is now in force in the Cape Town area as well. If conditions improve I hope to visit GRAAFF REINET with-Brother Koeberg next month.
GUGULETU has been especially hard hit by the riots, and as a result I was warned to
heaven" from the book of Revelation, eind emphasized that all things were under God's
control. Brother Matutu said that there was a strong feeling against white people in Guguletu. His son, David, will soon be starting a teaphing program here.
The BISHOP LAVIS congregation is now meeting at the home of Brother James Dunjua in MITCHELL'S PLAIN. I had the opportunity to preach there recently, and was much impressed by their joy in the Lord, their spontaneous testimonies, and the rich
last week. I brought a message on "SUFFERING" from J PETER, and afterwards--Id people came forward for prayer. I have also been asked to bring regular Monday evening lessons to their Outreach Group starting in January. Praise God for another open door.
At the FARMERS' CO-OP our Lunchtime Bible lessons are now centred on the MINOR
PROPHETS; with lessons last week on JOEL, AMOS, OBADIAH and JONAH.
It is thrilling
We were once again witnesses to the burning of tyres and the presence of the
Defence Force in Athlone testimony to the fact that we a,j!e living in troublesome times. Yet God is still in control; and those who faithfully proclaim His word will
be more than conquerors through Him who loves us. May God be w-ith you,. And as you
enter this time of thanksgiving and Christmas may you be ever more -mindful of His
