STAFF

Dear Eastminster Family, In the man named Jesus from the place called Nazareth, God himself came to earth so that we might know him. This Jesus lived and loved the way we are all created to live and love. But we do not live or love as Christ loved. Instead, like Peter we deny him and, like Judas we sell him out for money. Even knowing that about us, even knowing our utter sinfulness, Jesus died for us, shedding his blood to cover our guilt. He who was without sin took our guilt upon himself, so that you and I are free. Free to live and love the way God creates us to. Jesus was dead. Really dead. But, God, our God, is able to bring new life even out of death. Through Christs death in our stead, God frees us from the power of sin and death. God not only frees us from the bondage of sin, he adopts us to be citizens of his Kingdom. By pouring out the Holy Spirit, he empowers even knuckleheads like us to join him in loving the world. There is no better time for a new beginning than Easter. There is no better place to begin anew than the empty tomb where we are reminded that, though the price was high, death has been defeated. The living God is at work in the world and in this community. Freed from the shackles of sin and death, let us gratefully join God in his work. Happy Easter! Brad

Be on the lookout for more information about our newest Habitat build, planned to begin May 7. Well work with volunteers from SCANA and other Habitat for Humanity volunteers. The site is located off 12th Street in West Columbia. Led by a group of more than 25 dedicated female leaders from across the Midlands, the WomenBuild Project will oversee the entire construction process of one Habitat home from start to finish, providing more than 360 volunteer opportunities for women of all ages. Men are encouraged to participate, too! Contact Mark Rosenberg at 446-0003 for more info or sign-up in the E-NEWS. Has God been nudging you to step out of your comfort zone? Well, the Eastminster Foot Care Ministry can help you answer that nudge. Our ministry is woefully low on Foot Care servers. We meet on Tuesdays at Christ Central on Main Street for about two hours. During that time we provide footbaths, callus removal, nail trimming, shoes and socks, and Christs love to four homeless people who spend a lot of time on their feet. Also, we are able to refer our guests for free medical care as needed. There are two foot care providers and one floater. So, if you dont feel comfortable with washing feet, please consider volunteering to be a floater. The floater is vital to this ministry. They set up, assist with shoe fittings, clean up and so much more. Still not comfortable? Consider stopping by and just observing one Tuesday. We can guarantee you will step away with a blessing. If you have questions about the Eastminster Foot Care Ministry, speak to one of our servers: John Asman, Ginger Bates, Marit & Bill Bobo, Lib Foster, Kara Glenn, Carol Hill, Ernest McCutcheon, Linda Moulton, Johnnie Pearce, Rachel Smith, Becky Smythe, Leland Williams and Kelley Woody. We would love to share our experiences and stories with you. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
