to reach and transform people, by the power of the gospel, in biblical community

According to the latest research, more than 1 out of every 3 adults (33%) in America is unchurched. This means they havent attended a religious service of any type during the past year. This represents some 125 million Americans. That number alone would be the 10th largest country in the world! Thats more people than live in 230 countries of the world (based on lists that name 242 different countries)* Some of these people are in our own community, our own backyard. In fact, many reside in the World Golf Village community. In the WGV community there are 48,150 unchurched people. Of those, 14,000 are students. Only 17% of those residents say that their faith is important to them. In fact, Good News is only one of eight churches that is intentionally focused on this community.

A Transformed Life
There I was far away from home at college looking at a positive pregnancy test. I had left my partying lifestyle eleven months earlier when I had rededicated my life to Jesus Christ. But only three months earlier I had fell in love. My life was over. My unbeliever boyfriends response was to terminate the pregnancy. In all aspects it seemed the easiest escape route. We explored adoption and in the end decided to keep our baby. When the baby was born, God bashed open my boyfriends heart. Instantly, he was struck by a love he had never known and an overwhelming awareness that there was something so much bigger going on in life. The baby was nine months old, and under a heavy burden of Holy Spirit conviction, I decided I couldnt be physically intimate with my boyfriend anymore. The next Sunday he received Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior at a church we had been semi-regularly attending. The following week he proposed to me. Three months later we were married. Although he was now a believer, there wasnt much, or any for that matter, fruit in His life. He slowed down a bit with his partying and extracurricular activities, but absent were the daily Bible studies, prayer times, and deep theological conversations I had fantasized about before he came to Christ. Tired of driving far for church, alone I visited Good News where my wonderful mom had been attending for years. Smileys messages were so different than what we had heard before. The gospel was so beautiful. My husband started coming too, and shortly we chose to make Good News our church home. I dragged my reluctant husband to small group. Since it was only one block away, he had no excuse, but he sure did invent some excellent ones for a while. However, the sincerity, humility, and transparency attracted him so strongly that he began coming every week. They were disciple-making, and as we teamed up with them, we were learning more about Jesus. Ultimately, we were following Him as a family. With all of his previous partying with his pals, he had never really experienced a true friendship. Fast forward a bit to when we started our own small group. In one of those early meetings, I looked around at the six or seven women in that room and realized we had all gotten pregnant before we were married. We knew full well we had all acted outside of Gods plan for a family, yet here we were, sisters in Christ, brothers in Christ all transformed by Him. The weight of grace was heavy in that room. All of those families are still involved in Good News. Jesus took two partying, drug-abusing, sexually immoral people and radically transformed our lives. He used Good News Church as His hands and feet to teach us, train us, lead us, love us, and send us out. Many may look at us now and find it hard to imagine our dark days. But, oh, how sweet the irresistible grace that has been poured out on and saturated into our lives. Good News Church is so much more than a building that holds a meeting once a week. It is a beacon of light calling out to the community, the nations saying, Come, follow Jesus and know His love, and together we will become fishers of men. God is so good! - Current member of Good News

living out transformation

Over the years, we have seen thousands of people, locally and globally, profess faith in Jesus Christ through the faithful witness of believers at Good News. Because of our passion and commitment to the gospel and biblical community, Good News has helped plant 43 churches across the globe. Our Global Outreach strategy is to plant gospel-preaching, self-supporting, national-led churches. We have made amazing partnerships with nationals and other churches in this church planting mission.

This church and our small group are such a blessing to us. We are so thankful God has given us this precious place to worship Him.

reaching and transforming

We stick to five core values that instruct everything that we do as a church. These values help us to reach and transform others. Our discipleship process is very simple: 1. 2. 3. Connect to Jesus Connect to biblical community: worship and small group Get into Gods Word 1. Gospel-Centered: Good News loves... the gospel! Everyone needs the gospel! The lost need the gospel to be reached, while the found need the gospel to be transformed. 2. Evangelism: Good News loves... the lost! When we have the cure for death, we must share it. The more we experience the gospel personally, the more compelled we are to share it. We will do anything short of sin to reach the lost. 3. Biblical Community: Good News loves... one another! We believe the gospel enables us to do life together. We need each other to grow, serve, share, and reach out. 4. Joy: Good News loves... to make it enjoyable to learn about God! It is a sin to bore people with the gospel! Life is hard, so when we gather we will laugh hard, loud, and often because Jesus is the Joy-giver. 5. Priority of the Next Generation: Good News loves... children, youth, and college students! The church is always one generation from extinction! We place a top priority on reaching the next generation in all we do.

My son told me he learned that he doesnt have to be afraid because God is always right beside him!!!! Im sure you can imagine the smile on my face upon hearing that. Thank you, Good News, for reinforcing what we are teaching at home.

nding the lost

Over the last four years, Good News Church has had a positive growth trend, as seen in the following ways: 34% increase in attendance over the last four years: from 750 average weekly attendance in 2010 to 1,007 in 2014 41% increase in attendance at Sunday morning service since 2006. 71% of our members at the end of 2013 were participating in small groups thats over 662 people doing life together every week in biblical community. 880+ people have made professions of faith and have gone from death to life because of the sharing of the gospel by members of Good News Church. Our target is to reach the lost, especially men, and especially the next generation. We will do this by expanding our reach to over 48,150 here in the World Golf area and by planting churches around the world. We are a rescue station designed to create 3M Christians who are have a master in Jesus, are members of a local body, and who join in the mission of the church.

In August 2009 at the Staff Elder Retreat, Good News targeted the World Golf Village area for a future campus. That target was specifically the I-95/International Golf Parkway interchange. Now in 2014, God has given us the opportunity to be in that very place that we had desired to be five years earlier.

transforming a community
With Global Outreach in mind, we were really gripped by our own Judea region here in North Florida. In 2010, Andy Hirko was selected to be our World Golf Village (WGV) Campus pastor, and he began the work of building a core team and finding a place to worship. On Easter Sunday 2011 Andy, along with his wife Kristy and daughter Lilyana, launched our first service at WGV. This took place in a tent as our current campus was not finished yet. In 2013, God provided us the opportunity to relocate to a site with better access to I-95. This location will allow us to be within easy driving distance of thousands more unreached people. Adults, children, and youth alike will be able to invite more of their friends, family, and neighbors to a facility that is not only large enough to accommodate but also designed and constructed specifically to transform lives. 8,400 sq ft. auditorium, nearly doubling our current seating capacity 6,600 sq ft. children, youth, and staff area 4,000 sq ft. community and welcoming area

Last night the Newcomers Class was amazing. We had several families cancel at the last minute, so it was only two people. The guy that was there came to faith through the ministry of Good News Church six months ago. He is turning his life around because of community. He had been constantly getting drunk, got several DUIs, and was living with his girlfriend. Since he came to faith and because of the community at Good News, he has stopped drinking and moved out of his girlfriends house. He is now joining the church and is going to start helping out with the youth.

counting the cost

As a church we are called to be good stewards of all that God has blessed us with. That includes our time, talents, and treasure. Good News Church has continually seen God bless us with our daily bread and more throughout the years. Our desire is to honor God by building facilities that provide a place were lost people can feel welcomed and hear the gospel. To do this, we want to raise over $4 million by 2017 and use 12% of the money raised to plant new churches around the world. Auditorium Children/Youth/Staff Facility Community Area Property Site Preparation Church planting (12%) Total Goal $1,050,000 $825,000 $500,000 $1,100,000 $300,000 $453,000 $4,228,000

I love that I asked my 15-year-old son if he wanted to go to small group tonight, and his response was, What kind of question is that? Why would you even ask? Of course I do! Thank you for making small groups so integral in our church!
