Topic 1: Human Cloning and International Law 300 years ago, the idea of human beings replicating themselves seemed almost impossible. But as life started to develop, the idea of cloning humans became a reality, and was no longer mere science fiction. Human cloning, as defined by The Human Genome Organization (HUGO): is the production of genetic copies of individual organisms or cells without sexual reproduction, involves a number of different techniques, including embryo splitting; somatic cell nuclear transfer into an enucleated egg; and development of cell lines, derived from a somatic cell, in cell culture. It all began after the birth of the first clone, Dolly The Sheep, that it became an international issue that set debates to motion on a national and an international level, including within the United Nations system. An urgent debate took place on in which organizations like UNESCO, WHO, and IBC all adopted the case and took action. All of which concluded that the reproduction of human beings genetical tissue raise fundamental and complex ethical concerns about the worthiness and quality of ones life, the beginning of life and the status of the embryo. You, as a delegate, and a representative in the Legal Committee, is required to continue investigating about this controversial topic and make a resolution, keeping in mind the resolutions that have already been made and passed in the United Nations General Assembly, and organizations that directly selected this issue, IBC, Intergovernmental Bioethics Committee (IGBC), and make new solutions which serve this topic to the fullest. Topic 2: Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism The unofficial or unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims is whats best known as terrorism. For over than a century, the practice of violent terrorism has led our world to a destructive path today. It has damaged many countries, destroyed many lives that it is now best known as the worlds most serious issue. Terrorism attacks the values that lie at the heart of the Charter of the United Nations: respect for human rights; the rule of law; rules of war that protect civilians; tolerance among peoples and nations; and the peaceful resolution of conflict is how the UN describes it. Therefore, it has taken many actions in order to fully eliminate such dreadful problem. The UN CounterTerrorism Committee (CTC), formed after the 9/11 incident in the United States, works to help the United Nations to fully vanish terrorism. The Legal Committee has adopted this case and until this day it is fighting to eliminate it. All of the bodies and organizations of the UN are working hard to help omit this issue. Since it is one of the most controversial issues, many solutions were made and many resolutions were passed. The United Nation, CTC, and all of the other bodies of the UN have worked hard to exclude the word terrorism from the world, and have made many strategies to do so. As a delegate, you have to keep in the mind the impact this issue has in the world and the past resolutions that were created, and create new ones that satisfies this issue.
