Monday, April 7, 2014 ~ Today started with meeting my site supervisor, Mariann KenvilleMoore.

We took this opportunity to review and sign the required Student Weekly Log, Letter of Recommendation, and Guided Practicum Completion Form. Ms. Kenville-Moore provided some additional feedback, feedback that I will also utilize in my day job as well. This was a bittersweet moment for meIm excited about completing my internship however, I am sad about leaving behind relationships and friendships that I have cultivated during this process. Next on the calendar we (DCADV Executive Director, Carol Post and Mariann Kenville-Moore) trekked to the Carvel State Office Building. Here we witnessed Governor Jack Markell sign a proclamation officially declaring this week Delaware Crime Victims Rights week. This was most exciting for me. Exciting more so because this year marks 30 years since the passage of the Victims of Crime and the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, and two decades since the Violence Against Women Act became law. These milestones represent major steps toward upholding the rights of millions of Americans who become victims of crime each yearfrom women seeking shelter after leaving abusive relationships to families demanding justice for a loved ones murder to children struggling to rebuild their lives after escaping trafficking rings. This experience was unbelievably educational and I felt privileged in receiving the invitation. Next on the agenda was the marathon DCADV staff meeting (3+ hours). The agenda included: Timekeeper and Process Observer Roles Community Meeting Administrative and Board Updates o Healthcare Benefits Update o Board Meeting Date Change May 20 o Office Changes telephones, office space, etc. Team Updates o Policy/Disabilities/Trauma o Communications and Development o Prevention and Training Strategic Plan Update o Pat Vivian Visit (I hear shes a dynamic speakerI wish I could be here for this) Process Observer

The meeting was long but a lot of good and pertinent information passed on to staff members. I fully understand to need for staff meetings but not everything is staff meeting material. I feel time management is key to efficiency and productivity. Maybe tailor the information a little. Next, there was a presentation for the departing internME. I was humbled and surprised at the gesture. This was also the best cheesecake I have ever eatenfresh and cream y, topped with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I was presented with a gift and a thank card filled with well wishes from all the staff members. Again, this was a bittersweet moment for me.
