What is Tajwid? The word Tajwid originates from the word jayyid / jayyada / which basically means good / to make better. Tajwid Al-Quran means the science or knowledge of reciting the Quran properly as was practiced by the Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. and his companions r.a. Why do we need to learn Tajwid?

Why do we need to learn Tajwid? To recite the Quran properly is to obey the command of Allah s.w.t., as stated in the verse 121 of surah AlBaqarah:

Which means: Those to whom We have given the Book and they recite it observing the rights of its recitation - they are the ones who believe in it. And those who disbelieve in it, they are the losers. Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani. Since to observe the Quran of its rights of recitation is an obligation, seeking the knowledge to fulfill this obligation is also an obligation. What is the status in Allahs eyes those learn this knowledge?
