Justification Selection of Song Sounds of Animals on The Farm According to A. Blanchard (2010), contextual learning allows individual to create a hub of connection between the content of a learning activity to the real world situation. The song Sounds of Animals on The Farm is produced in order to create a link to the students daily life situation as they encounter the different sounds of animals daily. By introducing this song to the students, they are able to develop a better understanding about the animals and their sounds in a more meaningful context. Why is this so? This is because the song acts as a catalyst for the students to develop new strands of schemata that enhances their prior knowledge about the animals and their various sounds. Consequently, as the students are able to generate this connection, the educational emphases, especially Contextual Learning [KSSR English Language (SK) Year 1 & 2, 2011, page 11] is achievable. Furthermore, the words used within this song are among the word list highlighted in the Document Standard KSSR English (SK) Year 2. The key words that are emphasized certainly meet the students requirement of English language mastery in Year 2. Words such as see, day all and these [KSSR English Language (SK) Year 1 & 2, 2011, page 23 & 24] are found repetitively in the song. As they learn to use the words in a constant manner, their language capability can be maximized to a higher level and thus creating a sturdy foundation for them to learn and face newer and more complex words in the years to come. Indirectly, the pedagogical principle of back to basics [KSSR English Language (SK) Year 1 & 2, 2011, page 2] can also be related as the teacher are able to facilitate the students in the latter years based on the foundation of language that were built previously. Furthermore, this song can also induce fun and purposeful learning environment. According to the Study Mode (2007), when students learn in a fun way, they are drawn towards the pleasure in obtaining the essential skills naturally. The rhythm of the song is simple and repetitive which are undeniably purposeful and meaningful as it introduces the animals as well as their sounds. Therefore, by introducing this song to the students, the learning standard 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 [KSSR English Language (SK) Year 1 & 2, 2011, page 21] able to enjoy, recite and sing songs through non-verbal response and with correct pronunciation and rhythm can be achieved. Subsequently, the pedagogical principle of learning is fun, meaningful and purposeful [KSSR English Language (SK) Year 1 & 2, 2011, page 3] can also be related. In a nutshell, Sounds of Animals on The Farm song is appropriate for the Year 2 primary school students because it is contextual, abide to the pedagogical principles of back to basics, contain rich grammar elements well as adheres to the suitability of the words list in the Document Standard KSSR English SK Year 2.
