HARARE:
As I cont-inue to share with you cultural shocks I have had as a new missionary I hope you will be able to better understaoid how to pray for those who go to a foreign field. Many times i t is the "little" things that are hardest to learn to deal
with.
One of the adjustments I have had to make is the amount of gates, walls and locks there are in the city. Everything has at least one lock on i t and possibly more. There are gates and walls to protect your house, your car, tools, clothes, etc. These are a very necessary part of life here to keep the "tsotsi's" (Shona for thieves) from stealing all you own. A high value is placed on everything here because of the lack of so much. Therefore, locks, gates, and walls become so very important. As the college is now building a much needed classroom block (3 classrooms), we have yet another great need for a wall around the entire property. This will taike a large amount of money. Your prayers and help are needed. At this time there is a housing development starting on the property adjacent to the college and the problems will then only just begin.
At this time, we estimate the wall will be close to $10,000 in Zimbabwe (or about $6500. US Dollars). This wall will help to secure our vegetable garden, a borehole pump, the worker's housing, the college buildings, tool sheds, and the Harare Christian Church building. I do not know how to express how much this is needed except to ask you to pray
with us for the funds.
Is i t possible for one time gifts to be given for this very important need? Yes, i t is possible and I hope you will
continue to pray with me about this and the other needs here. The people here are so grateful and thankful for your prayers
and gifts. I want to thank each of you for caring and for writing and most of all for praying. "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." II Cor. 13:14
With much love,
Jayne Linda

PRAYER PRAISES:
-The wonderful spirit of love that the new student body have at Zimbabwe Christian College.
To the friends of Jayne Linda, Jsiyne Linda wrote this newsletter, not knowing about the special "love offering" for her birthday that we wrote about last month. As of July 5th, the special "love offering" has
exceeded $1,100. Also on Sunday, we talked to Jayne by phone in Harare and told her about this special birthday gift. She was so excited, and asked us to let you know how much she loves you all, and for your prayers. God is so good and we also thank you for this special blessing you gave to Jayne
Linda.
Now back to Jaiyne's letter. We have a suggestion. Currently there are only five (5) Churches that support Jayne Linda on a regular basis. Perhaps your pastor would allow you to ask the Church Board, Sunday School or Missions Committee to set aside one Sunday, Mkd August 30 (since August has five Sundays) to take a special offering for the Zimbabwe Christian College. But before you ask, please pray for the Lord's guidance and then act accordingly.
Jayne Linda's work permit ends in October. She has asked us to pray that the Zimbabwe immigration office will grant her a renewal. Work permits are granted for a two year period. Please join us in praying for this. Again we take
this time to thank a l l those individuals and churches who
faithfully send funds each month. So far in 1987 i t has averaged over $1,200 per month, which is just the amount she needs to meet expenses. Nothing more. Paul told the church
at Philippi, "..my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19.
God bless,
^ CUjUyty
Now a special note about your giving. Sometimes a check arrives made payable to Jajnie Linda. If you intend to take a deduction on your taxes, you must msike your check payable to
Central Africa Missions. This is listed with IRS and checks
with Jayne Linda's name may be rejected by them if you are called for an audit. Pray that the IRS and your government
will stay out of church activities.

Uniforms are a common sight in all of Zimbabwe. There are uniforms at the department stores, uniforms for workers in the homes, gardens, factories, garages, grocery scores etc And we as Christians should all wear a uniform - J" helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the
sword of the spirit...Eph. 6:13-17
Christian "uniform" of life. At times we all slip and really blow it by the example we set. May we always be aware of the
example we put forth to those who watch us.
As the students study, they are learning in the classroom and by the examples around them, about the
example. Because I am in the classroom for the first time, as a teacher since coming to Zimbabwe. I am presently teaching two beginning typing classes twice a week PLUS keeping up with my other duties. I have been the
Lord for His strength and energy.
