Northeastern Student Government Association accepts candidates for executive office Ashley Duke TNE writer

Ashley Duke/TNE - Taylor Melone, Tulsa junior, completes her election packet to enable her to run for NSGA president. NSGA is now accepting candidates for the executive office. The deadline for candidates to turn in their election packet is March 14. Northeastern Student Government Association is now accepting candidates for the 2014 executive officer positions. Students who are interested are required to complete the election packet from the NSGA website. The packet contains all the details covering the election. Candidates will also need to be familiar with the forms, timeline, and the election code and complete the affidavit portion. Running for student body president has been a goal of mine since I first began my

involvement in NSGA as a freshman senator, said Taylor Melone, Tulsa junior. NSGA has made a great impact on my undergraduate career, and I hope I can give back to the organization half as much as it has given me. I have seen great progress within the organization throughout the last three years, and I want to continue that trend. NSGA has the potential to bring forth significant change on this campus, and I would be proud to help students make that happen. NSGA executive officer positions include president, vice president, attorney general, treasurer and secretary of state. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours, have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above and have good conduct standing with NSU to run for office. Each office also has specific requirements pertaining to that office. Election packets are due to the NSGA office by March 14. No late submissions are accepted. Students should run for an executive office in NSGA so they can have a voice at NSU, said Lydia Winford, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, junior. It is good way to give back to NSU. Elections will be available online this year. Student can vote online from 12 a.m., April 2, to 11:59 p.m., April 3. Election polling booths will also be available in the UC basement 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Students may not know it, but NSGA does a lot for the students throughout the year, said Kenna Tackett, Sallisaw sophomore. Voting for the elections is crucial. You want to choose a candidate who can take charge and who cares about the well being of the students. Election results will be announced at noon, April 7.
