JDM F17X2 FORM B: Paint Process Qualification Request

1) Component Supplier or Paint Shop must complete forms on the Process Information pages of this Request Form. 2) Return the electronic copy of the completed form to the John Deere Moline Technology Innovation Center (MTIC) via email MTICPaintLab@JohnDeere.com AND a hard copy of the Process Information pages along with the painted panel submission.

3) Submit Painted Panels to the John Deere MTIC at the address above marked ATTN: Paint Lab. Testing will not begin until all requirements are fulfilled. Required panels are as follows: Substrate B: Eight (8) 4" x 12" Lab Panels Purchased without Pretreatment (0.032 Thickness) (100mm x 300mm x 0.8mm thick panels may be used) These panels should be cold rolled steel conforming to the JDQ 1B standard Pretreat, paint, and cure through suppliers production paint line Lab Panels can be purchased through ACT Test Panels (www.acttestpanels.com) or QPanel (www.q-panel.com)
Note: If all Substrate C materials are non-ferrous, then JDQ 1A panels may be used to fill the substrate B requirement. JDQ 1A panels are cold rolled steel lab panels purchased with iron phosphate pretreatment. These panels are painted and cured in the production process, but are not run through production pretreatment.

Substrate C: Eight (8) Samples of Each Production Substrate (Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled, Castings, etc.) Samples must measure approximately 4 x 6 to 4 x 12 (100mm x 150mm to 100mm x 300mm) Pretreat, paint, and cure through suppliers production paint line Note: This form should not be used for plastic substrates. For qualification of plastic substrates please send inquiries to MTICPaintLab@JohnDeere.com. 4) Qualification Process Testing will not begin until this Form is returned to the John Deere Moline Technology Innovation Center. Testing duration will vary based on corrosion resistance requirements of the specified JDM F17 level.

Testing may be performed at John Deere MTIC or at an MTIC approved laboratory. Panels tested at an approved laboratory must be reviewed by authorized John Deere personnel to verify conformance to JDM F17 requirements. Certain tests such as Florida Weathering have an extended duration (up to 12 months), and can be avoided by utilizing previously approved paint formulas. Contact one of the John Deere Preferred Suppliers listed below for more information. 5) Lead Free Requirement ALL PAINT USED ON JOHN DEERE PRODUCTS SHALL BE LEAD FREE. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS STANDARD, LEAD FREE IS DEFINED AS <0.06% (600 PARTS PER MILLION) BY MASS IN THE DRY FILM. ALL SUBMISSIONS WILL BE SCREENED UPON ARRIVAL AT THE MTIC PAINT LAB.
