Dr Tung-Chai Ling is a Research Fellow with PolyU Technology & Consultancy Company Limited (PTeC). Before rejoining PolyU early this year, he spent about 2 years as lecturer with the School of Civil Engineering, University of Birmingham (UK). He has 2-and-a-half years Postdoctoral research experience at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr Ling has specialized in the development of sustainable and environmentally-friendly concrete products through innovative materials science and engineering technology. Since 2009, he published in over 38 high impact peer-reviewed journals with accumulative Impact Factor of 65.8 (based on 2012-ISIs Web of Knowledge JCR database). Besides a number of bibliographic conference papers and a book, he has won a number of research and academic awards as well as two product patents for his research work. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Civil Engineering and Construction Technology, and serves as a regular reviewer for a number leading international journals such as Cement and Concrete Composites, Journal of Cleaner Production, Environmental Science and Technology, etc. His current research interests have focused on the recycling of various types of waste materials including hazardous wastes, materials science and engineering technology in cement/concrete composites, and the use of smart materials in concrete products for self-cleaning, air purifying and building energy saving.
